    Major Bug: Cerberus in Freight Yard

    I don't even really know how to describe this, but I'll do my best.

    Basically players will be in the cerberus driving around, but simultaneously also not in the cerberus driving around. While the cerberus is out and doing its thing, one or more of the occupants will also appear standing still somewhere on the map; standing still with their arms straight down at their sides, not in the normal standing still pose. These perfectly still characters are completely vulnerable to taking damage and being killed. This, despite the fact that the very same player is actually inside a cerberus, actively playing in another area of the map. When this vulnerable version of the avatar is found and killed, you simply die to apparent phantom damage while inside the cerberus. The kill cam will reveal that the enemy could not possibly have had line of sight.

    I have experienced this bug from both sides. Initially I thought I was just getting lucky finding afk people for free kills. Then, while in the cerberus, I was killed by a shotgun. The kill cam revealed the enemy to be on the opposite side of the map. When I say opposite sides of the map, I mean one of us was near Capture Point A and the other near Capture Point C. I have since experienced this in every seat of the Cerberus.

    Also, it doesn't seem to necessarily happen to all of the cerberus occupants. I've encountered a single seemingly-afk character, sometimes 2 of the occupants, and occasionally all 3. One of the times I encountered only 2, seconds earlier the cerberus had passed me with both guns firing (thus 3 occupants). Also, when I have encountered more than one of these afk characters at a time, their relative positions are as they would be inside the cerberus: two players side-by-side and the third standing a couple feet behind.

    This isn't something that pops up infrequently. I encountered it in most of the freight yard matches I played yesterday. In several matches, I encountered it up to half a dozen times in each. It's also entirely possible that it happened in every match, but that I didn't happen upon any of the afk players.

    Ive seen this happen too yesterday, Im pretty sure its when you spawn into it from the spawn screen not if you run up to it and get in.

    Ah, this might explain what happened to me. Had a similar situation where I was in the turret of the Cerberus near C and yet my killer had a short range infector near A.

    Happened again in several matches today. At one point, while driving the cerberus I was even melee killed. Today I also encountered the same bug twice while on a hannibal in freight yard, so apparently this is not limited to the cerberus.

    This is the server lag issue i have had it happen before when in the game world driving around. But this was before patch 1.012 so it looks like they might have to optimize freight yard more.

    But right now it's still playable just goofy.

    I don't think it's a lag issue. It happens consistently. If you die and spawn into a cerberus your 'afk' copy of you avatar will be standing where you previously died. Have seen this many times through kill cams while going for the turret kills for the pursuit.

    As soon as I get hit while in cerberus after spawning into it after death (rather than climbing in one while being alive) I jump out which causes the afk copy avatar to disappear. Avoids getting killed in the wrong place.

    This explains a lot. I see this and experience it all the time now. What's even weirder is somehow I once spawned into two different cerebuses. The screen kept flashing back in forth between the two while I was trying to drive them. Jumped out and back in and it fixed it. If Trion pulls freight yard again I hope they give us some notice first, just about down with the pursuits.

    Just want to say 'thanks' to DejaVooDoo for reporting this, I always wondered what caused my deaths from out of nowhere and what those static players on the map were. This happens on XBox 360 EU and the OP's explanation seems to clarify how it happens perfectly. At least for now we have a workaround (jump out and in again if spawning directly into the vehicle).

    From what i have experienced, it happens only if you choose it as a spawn point. Ive jumped in and haven't had an issue. However, when spawning in it, about 9/10 of the times I'm killed in it have been caused by the ghost avatar.

    Update: Unfortunately it's not just when you spawn into the cerberus. Twice today, I entered the cerberus manually from the start point and it still happened. It also would have happened several more times had I not exited the vehicle before dying. That method does work. In one of those instances, my afk copy apparently stayed at a spot where I had run over and killed someone. Also, yesterday it happened with one of the runners, which you can't spawn into.
