Could they not have just removed the shield? That could have been a bigger hassle I guess for the sole reason they removed the vendors instead but good giref half of them are gone. I guess this was discovered post patch being as they added a fast travel to coit tower which now servers no purpose because theres no vendor there.

Its likely that Trion removed the vendors because modifying their inventory while they were active could have caused problems, especially if people were trying to buy said shield while Trion was modifying the vendor. Removing said vendors and then modifying their inventories would eliminate such a threat.

And considering that the main reason went to vendors anyway was for vehicle specials, and the fact that there are are only two vehicle vendors atm, means that you should be spending close to no time and much more time stomping and squishing hellbugs!

Based on what I've seen/read it was really just common sense. The lag between server and host would have caused the exchange to be completed on one side, but not the other, which would have resulted in scrip being taken, but not shield given, or the shield being given and no scrip taken.

On a more extreme note this could have also caused a crash of some people's systems since its likely that the game would not know what to do in the situation, and thus crash the game in some instances where other unknowns are present.

As far as I'm aware it wsa only the vendors that sold that shield that were removed. I can't confirm this though because I am currently stuck at work. =\
