I have been trying to get into the game all day. I have tried re installing, removing the patcher .txt file all to no avail. Unlike some others, I cannot even get into the create a character screen. it is very frustrating. I am almost regretting spending money on this game. Can anyone help me, please?
Use the beta client you can download from the Trion website, DO NOT use Steam.
I have the alpha version but i have this problem as @crabshack101. The Server are down???
I've downloaded the beta from Trion several times...still no joy, same issue as the other folks connecting to servers and then Service not available.
Same issue as above. I got the client from Trion, installed. But won't update on launch and I get "the service unavailable message"

Same error, it shouldn't matter that it was downloaded through steam because all the steam client does is install the defiance launcher, then from there you download the game. There isn't a "special beta launcher" or anything is there?
Steam does NOT install the beta client, thats why you cant connect through steam. So yes, there is special beta launcher why do you think i underlined "DO NOT use steam"?
I have both installed I have been in beta and I let steam install its version, I was playing with the beta then got D/Ced and and it popped up service not available, so It is some other problem not the wrong client, although you are correct that there are 2 different ones.Originally Posted by The Prince
Right now Service isn't available for a Patch and they also mentioned don't use the Alpha as those servers will be down while we use the Beta weekend frontend that you DL from TRION.
is the server down? or its just me, im using beta version client, played this game yesterday like for 5hrs.
