Bunny Hopping in this game is ridiculous. I just finished watching the Defiance marathon. Guess what? I didn't see any bunny hopping during any of the fights or battles. So the immersion of PvP in Defiance is lost on me. I won't play it. I'll stick with the PvE until that wears out and then move on.

If I need PvP, and I certainly do, I'll play Darkfall, Planetside 2, World of Tanks, War Thunder and even Tribes. It's unfortunate Trion had to cater to the console people bunny hoppers. I suspect that business decision will not be the best long term since that community is way more fickle and will move to the Next Great Game as soon as it's released.

If you cannot guess, I'm a PC gamer. And I prefer immersion over the bunny hopper mechanic.

have fun whatever game you're playing.

I've been watching the series as well and:

    I haven't seen a million Ark falls.
I haven't seen a cloaker, a decoy, a blur user, or someone using overcharge.
I haven't seen any type of infector. I don't believe I've seen any grenade launchers or rocket launchers.
I certainly haven't seen any Dark Matter...maybe I missed that episode.
I have seen a "tamed" biomen.
I haven't seen nearly as many skitterlings in the show as I've had hump my legs around Madera.
I sure as hell haven't seen any evidence of perks.
I haven't see a personal shield on anyone either.

Bottom line, there's going to be a lot of "gray" areas when a game is made based off a movie or TV show. Want true realism based off the show? Sure, eliminate bunny hopping, perks, ego powers, ego levels, shields, etc etc. I think we'd be left with a very stale game that resembled real life enough it wouldn't warrant a lot of people wanting to play it. I can go play real life by walking out the door.

I wasn't meaning to present my above post as absolute fact, but merely some of my own personal thoughts. I figure there's some useful information in the suggestions, that's all. Though I still feel that removing options from PvP (IE: jump cooldowns) simply reduces options and creates a more boring experience as a result. Not to insinuate this is factual, but I really don't think jump cooldowns are the way to go in terms of drawbacks. A more sensible direction would be to increase reticle spread when jumping, in my opinion.
I was just playing around with you man.

It's cool, I like your posts. And I agree with your suggestions, artificial limiting of jumping would just be clunky and weird and bite you in the *** when you need to actually scale stuff. Reticle spread seems like a fair compromise, if any is required.

But you taught me something, it actually isn't bunny hopping, I had no idea. So thanks for that!

I'm confused.I hate Bunny Hopping in this game and I thought I hated it in all games. Then I just tried the Loadout beta on Steam. I actually find myself jumping, and liking it. Especially with the Rocket Boots for a double-jump. Somehow with their over-the-top graphics it just works. Anyways, I don't want to go on about that game in this game's forum, so farewell and good luck.

Is the only reason Bunny Hopping is lampooned because people just...'don't like it', because this has been about the bulk of the arguments so far.

Can't believe you're the first to mention it. OP pay attention^^^ if you CANNOT keep up with jumping use BIO, grenade or shotty ftw. I have a heavy scatter with Bio nano and it's hilarious to watch people try to hop/evade as I bust out some overcharge lovin (even post-nano-shotty-nerf it triggers quite a bit)

Actually it started in arcades..... It's ok, I know most of you don't consider anything pre- 1990 as existance... but it did happen.
