Bunny hopping is lame and you should feel lame for doing it. That being said, it's a viable tactic since everyone in the future can jump like Mario. Also if you don't know OP, the poop shoes nano effect slows AND grounds.

The funny thing is one of the biggest "bunny hopping" games ever is halo, and people all buny hop and use presion wepaons like the BR and DMR while buny hopping and landing headshots on other bunny hoppers. The fact that you can't hit a target that is moving is your own lack of aim not an issue with the game. with that said the game offers plenty of easier options such as homing infectors, to explosives, to shotguns, that require much less aiming. I understand some people may want to snipe but if your not good enough to do it then odn't. don't ask the devs to make your playstle easier for you

Anyone who suggest "learn to aim" should take a step back and really, just examine what they are defending.
Something NEEDS to be done. This can not go on because it is, for the lack of a better word, ruining part of the game for a part of the player base.
The "suggestion" of "aim up" is invalid because the height you have to aim at to reliably hit a hopper is twice the height of a person. There's an easy 1.5m clearance on a jumping person and the ground. Not to mention that certain weapons are practically unaffected by this "tactic" aim-wise making them together into an effective, annoying and arguably overpowered mix in close quarters.
And since every single objective has you go close to something you are, in effect fighting close quarters ALL the time. Meaning the argument of "oh don't go close then" is invalid.
There are many things that add up to this being the most annoying and unbalancing thing in PvP. Some of which I mentioned. And there NEED to be limitations, downsides. The most optimal one that pops to my head is not some sort of 2 second timer. You want to hop, go hop to your hearts content but you sacrifice offensive capability for it. I can completely accept and even encourage hopping as a defensive "tactic". But ONLY as a defensive one. This means that you shouldn't be able to fire your weapons while in the middle of a jump.
I can already hear the veins bursting in foreheads.
EDIT: as for the justification that "If Halo/Quake can do bunnyhop, so can you!" is... wrong. Those games have a very small pool of weapons. Very small, and VERY DETAILED. There are no modifiers. Every number, every single point of damage has been calculated, drawn out and examined. In Defiance, however, you have a very large pool of weapons with very different effects and damage ratings and so on and so forth. With a lot of it left up to the players themselves to combine. The results can vary, a lot. Weapons themselves are undefined. Again, I bring the nano fragger. That apparently is supposed to be a sawed of shotgun type weapon and instead you usually have a railgun that fires explosive shells.
This is a part of the game learn to adapt or just stop pvp'ing. I used to never do it, but now I do it all the time. It is, for better or worse, a game mechanic that is actually quite good for defensive purpose since not many people in this game can aim all that well (and to be honest it is quite hard to ADS with the difference in speed between hip fire and ADS)
If you really hate it, use a bmg or infector, they are very effective against this defensive posture.

There is nothing to adapt to. That's why everyone in this game uses an infector, shotgun or grenade launcher! Theres no reason to use any other weapon because people around bouncing around and unhittable otherwise.
There is no skill in this game, just get yourself on of these weapons and start wrecking. You know any shooting game where sniping is nearly impossible will have terrible PVP. Personally, I just want to get my Echelon to Trusted and my headshot kills(good luck! why use a headshot weapon when you can one shot people with a shotgun or grenade?) and 50 shadow war captures and never PVP again.
