Anyway to loot items without actually switching?

I just started playing this game after the steam free weekend. Is there anyway to loot weapons without changing what you currently have equiped? It has really been bothering me and I have not been able to find out from anywhere if this is possible.

Instead of holding E, just press it quickly (assume PC). Make sure your inventory is not full.

Many people didn't know about this. There is no real guide to start the game and you have to hold e to interact with everything in Defiance.

Wow I feel like a complete dunce! This is something that has frustrated me to no end, and I have been playing the game since launch. I just figured it was a bug or something when I would loot the item without equipping it, not an action I could choose by tapping "E". I knew I should have looked this up on the forums!

yeah on the loot the only tag on it only says hold E, they should of just doubled up the tag saying also to tap E to pick up.
