Lots of MMO's don't have a LFG tool so not sure why you keep throwing that around.

This isnt an mmorpg. Understanding this is a shooter with some rpg lite elements in it may help reconfigure things for you.
Death in this game means simply a 5% loss of scrip and is otherwise a learning tool. If you're dying alot you might want to see how you have your perks set up with your playstyle and weapon choices. Being in a group as you feel wont change your dying either as things get harder too at times when you got more than one person(because they'll trigger spawns of mobs on top of you or some other things etc.
The game's community issues are much less revolving around trying to turn the game into a WoW LFG style game and more with some issues to improve with the chat and voip systems(which have been griped about for months). Make or breaking of this game I assure you is not going to be due to LFG :P
Also since it is a shooter and not a RPG... you might want to rethink how you are approaching your missions. This is a shooter, so you cover. Retreat tatically. Flank enemies. So forth. I have yet need a group to finish any mission I have run. And I have done majority of the Beta missions. Sounds like your just playing wrong...
I run across people all the time. I was playing most of day today until server maintance hit. Alot of people still killing hellbugs, mutants and raiders. I will say that there is times where I do find noone in a area I am in. But they are there.
No need to be rude, because I certainly wasn't. What builds communities are the clans and guilds that make up the majority of a game's memberbase. LFG tools were created for the people who couldn't or wouldn't join the existing communities in the games. Adding a tool to find someone to play with for a single quest doesn't build community, it severely hurts it. If we all used an LFG tool for a something as simple as a quest, there would be no need for guilds/clans because we could just instantly group with people we don't know and never have to speak with each other again when we're done. How does this build community?
Also, you should take a look at the posts I make. They are VERY pro-game and pro-community building.

A LFG tool wouldn't hurt in all fairness... I don't think anyone could summon enough butthurt to deny that.
