    Contest Integrity

I'm concerned about the some of the contests because of the number of people I have discovered using glitches/exploits since I started playing Defiance.

Apparently there are a number of exploits that allow for ENORMOUS salvage gains, rapid key farming, and invincibility. All of these exploits translate into a highly increased access to tier 4 lockboxes, and ultimately the best gear in the game.

Obviously, this would be a huge advantage over legit players. I don't expect Trion, or any company for that matter, to be able to prevent all types of cheating. It's just not realistic. I would like some info on how contest winners are scrutinized though.

If a known glitcher/exploiter wins any of these contests, I don't think it would be worth the time to participate in them. So here are a few questions for anyone to answer:

1). What's being done to prevent cheaters from winning contests?

2). I know there are some clans, who at the very least, tolerate cheating if not teach it. Are there any clans out there that completely stand against it? Not just in words but in deeds?

3). Is it possible that some of these exploits are causing some of the bugs that all players then experience?

Can't dispute that! This weekend at a broken arkfall while we were all skitterling hunting there was a group killing themselves and reviving for the arkfall achievement. A "stranger" started taking part which forced somebody to type:
Stop reviving my clan members you < insert explenative here> leave us alone!
I won't go into the rest of the funny conversation that ensued. I also won't give names as I am not here to shame. but the following is obvious:

    1.) Cheaters be Cheating
2.) They intended to fix this bug in patch 1.020 which they obviously failed at.

Your points are valid good sir!

Absolutely. Many of these exploits/hacks, or ones in development, could be destabilizing the servers, 'causing all sorts of unexpected disconnects, and nobody would be able to tell the difference on the client side from "bad servers" to "deliberate attacks"
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.

I just want to play a PvP without someone using the shield glitch...

To all you loser cheaters using the EASY cheat (you are NOT special)..

Do you suck so bad you need to be invincible and ruin the game?

Has happened in other games (some CoD ones) where the glitches were obvious due to fewer players and obvious is obvious. Caused disconnects or forced the match to get dropped and had to restart. It seemed quite clear that what was happening was the glitching was causing this.

That reviving thing is actually getting pretty stupid. In one arkfall I was at in a minor destroy the crystal part there were two players that stood right by the crystal and used detonators to kill themselves and do damage to the crystal. I started to revive one of them and then I caught on to what they were doing-then I really tried to beat them to the revive. But this was after the patch which was meant to fix this-I was under the impression it did fix the suicide revive thing, am I wrong?

I think part of the cheating is due to the light hand Trion has taken at dealing with them. The most I have heard happening to some cheating was a 24 hours ban. In a game where you can complete the content in a few days, a 24 hour ban is nothing as they are not really losing anything other then time cheating.

Speaking from experience, many of the people have multiple accounts (often bought from players leaving the game for cheap, or during sales) in which handing out a ban is moot. They have their 'good guy' account they will play if they get all their 'cheating accounts' banned for the day.

Face it, the cheating is going to be here to stay because Trion either lacks the intelligence or the cojonez to stop it.

The 47th Legion strictly prohibits any exploiting and cheating even if it doesn't directly affect anyone else. Case in point, the Scrapworks Salvage exploit where people would jump over the wall: completely prohibited.

A single violation results in an automatic discharge from the unit.

I actually recorded someone trying to sell me supposed modded weapons that did the shield glitch, but after talking to him figured it was just a glitch and not the weapons. I offered him Legendary money for the weapons not Mod weapon money since I had no desire to cheat.

He declined my offer. He wanted 250k for his "modded" rocket launcher. I told him it was worth about 25k to me. He is pretty much invincible in the video.
I haven't decided if I will post it so you can't currently watch it.

And now you have known players to come back and watch how new cheats are being done. It's like tagging a dealer to lead you back to his supplier, sometimes it's favorable to let someone walk with a light penalty, when it means you may have a better chance of seeing how some of the other cheats are being done, or where people are getting them from. That's one reason many hackers don't reveal how they do it; they don't want it fixed, which it will be if they release the info.
