    Solved- see #10

Yesterday and earlier today I had no performance issues, the game was virtually locked at 60 frames and entirely enjoyable.

I log off for a few hours, come back and now it's at best, 45, with dips to 30 in the action.
I changed nothing in the client or my system and I saw no hotfix or patch from the server.

I've tried using all the different presets and/or toggled the three options (bloom, shadows, etc).
They all give the exact same performance, which is curious...

    Bump anyone else notice this?

I have tried a new character as well, same problem.
Where does Defiance store character details/keybinds/cache things like that?

Thanks Rams though I don't have one running at the moment - I'm not down any system resources, the game simply just won't run like it did before.

This can simply happen due to more players being around you. If you have more things to render it can cause your PC to drop in FPS.

    What are your PC specs?
    Thanks

    Hi Sledge,

Rest assured I have tried to remove myself from any scenarios such as heavy player population, dynamic events, and even battle in general - hence me making a brand new character.

    I have i7 2600k, GTX 680, 8GB RAM running Windows 7 at 1600p.

If I may restate, it was fine last night and this morning.
Again I also tried all different visual settings with very little difference between them - which is odd in itself.
I even turned the resolution down a step to 1080p and the performance gain was negligible - even more odd.
And, when I look at the ground and/or the sky(which generally gives an brief increase in performance for most applications), the frames stay the same....

    Questions :

    1. Are there any localized graphics or character settings?
    2. What is the point of 'custom' in the graphics options? The only three I see are the bloom, shadows and motion blur.

As an update to this, I tried again this morning, hoping the issue whatever it may have been was server side and possibly fixed after the small patch.

Unfortunately it was still giving me sub par performance.

Then I ran the Defiance.exe in the BETA folder. It brought up a window frame then closed by itself within a few seconds - note that this is not the first time I've tried this file, as I was curious about it the other day.

Would you believe, when I ran the game after that(beta launcher), I knew immediately it was working properly, as the intro videos were pegged at 60 frames. Then onto the character screen, 60 frames and finally into the game 60 frames.

This is extremely odd, and I for one am uncomfortable that something such as this is not pinpointable.

However if you come across a sudden performance loss, try running that Defiance.exe once, let it close then run the beta launcher as normal.

Hi, when it started working again I was on 314.21. I made a new thread linked back to this one
    http://forums.defiance.com/showthrea...860#post291860

I moved to 314.22 and it was a little better, however still not right, see :

    Thanks for the comments though.

I solved this by doing an uninstall/reinstall, then placing the these four files/folder from the "live" folder, back into the Defiance directory(obviously saving them before the uninstall) before running the patcher:

    -Wad (folder)
    -DefianceStartup.log
-Log.log (you may or may not have)
    -manifest.txt

The patcher then required 170mb worth of files and it was up to date.

When entering the game the performance had returned.
