Actually, despite what people are saying, it's entirely possible for certain games to cause RRoD. Different games put different amounts of heat and strain on the Xbox. The newer the game, the harder it stresses the chipsets which fail when heat isn't dissipated correctly.

All that being said... incredibly unlikely it was just THIS game. You play a lot of games, you do a lot of damage, particularly when you play for a long time.

I do my best to keep it cool but the inside of those things is a nightmare. I think it has more to do with system getting locked up and me having to either hold the power button and hope it turns off or unplug it. I'm tempted to send it in for service just to see what the actual problem is.

it was a dry solder joint issue, bad solder joints, they get warm and go cool and crack etc, was inevitable, thank the cheap chinese mass production solder flow,

Thank you for at least acknowledging it could have been this game.

We have the same issues with PS3 - sadly trying to fix it through professionals or yourself is time consuming and only a quick fix.

I have a USB fan on mine - annnnnddddd... a laptop cooling fan. I don't know if it will help but at least I don't worry about it as much anymore.

Technically what he said was, a lot of playing can cause it. So if you want to be specific, you broke your xbox.
I do feel for you though, I was devastated when may last two red ringed on me.

Haha, touche sir. On the bright side of this I now have some new electronics to take apart and see what I can do. Always nice to have a new project.

I hope it works out for you, I know nothing about electronics so would end up making it worse.

Steampunk it! That would be cool - we have an old PS3 with a game inside we need to take apart still.

That's the fun part though. It's why I use old things that I've replaced so I don't have to feel bad when they burst into flames.
