OMFG making a forum is hard. I primarily use WordPress as my base for website design, and it does NOT play well with forums apparently. I either have to use one of the completely horrid plugins or just have a completely separate installation for a forum (like they did on these forums).

So my choices for forum platform are: Vanilla Forums (awful), phpBB (soooooo old! the coding is beyond outdated, I don't even know how it hasn't just crumbled into dust), or vBulletin (what these forums run on, but it's like $250/year).

Nasty... well, just go with the simplest one that's the least hassle for you. But don't spend money on it - I'm not an expensive date. I put out easier than a hand-pump putting out kinetic force, and the movements are fairly similar.
