The way I see it, this is the main problem. NOTHING EVER CHANGES. It's just a big reskin every year with very few to no improvements. There is also like no backstory and the campaigns are extremely predictable. I suggest not lighting your 60 dollars on fire! Get something else.

Definitely call of duty 2. Very immersing storyline and control was perfect, making gameplay spot on. On the PC that is, not sure about consoles. All the newer ones are just the same thing with different skins.

I totally agree with this and above, where nothing really changes, however, I'm not sure things are running smoothly still in the servers for the older ones, and black ops two does have a pretty rad zombies campaign so far, a bonus to the monotony that is COD, lol. I'm trying to be nice and unbiased, cause even though I personally, and this is just me, feel there is very little real skill required to do well with unlimited lives, fast respawns times and score streaks, there are people that really live for this series, and love it, and yes I know there is hardcore modes that remove the score streaks and stuff, but I just prefer games where teamwork is key. I feel if you wanna really show some skills, go play some old socom combined assault, or confrontation even. One life, teamwork, no goofy shtako dropping out of the sky like bombers or ac-130's or missiles or ninjas or whatever there is..

my brother and i used to play the call of duty franchise religiously... until black ops 2.

all because the create a class function felt more like a punishment for leveling up than a reward, as no matter what you do, your build ends up just being a gimped half-attempt at a build from black ops 1. they make it so you can't have a full build, no matter what you do. we played for a week, hoping maybe the build slots were tied to prestige, so if you max out a few times you get more slots to play with. sadly, that was not the case. so now we're furious that we spent the money on both the game, and the season pass, and are leery of ever picking up a CoD title again. we've heard claims that Ghost won't have this worthless system in place, but i'm not lining up at midnight until i see definitive proof of that claim.

I enjoyed COD4, Modern Warfare 2, and the current one Black Ops 2. Each one has different reasons why I like them.

COD4 played more of a classic fps shooter, it still is a lot of fun online. This was great if you'd like sneaking around with a shotgun.

MW2 was fast paced, lots of explosions, and had way too much annoying killstreaks that killed the entire point of a playing a fps. I enjoyed this the most for its explosions...I was a noob tube/claymore scavenger. I liked to lock down certain areas in maps. One enjoyable feature added were personal titles and emblems. Also being able to attach a suppressor on shotguns. Playing online now isn't as fun as when it was released, and you will also face a ton of hackers.

Black Ops 2...not much to say here, I mainly use sniper rifles and shotguns here...and occasionally attempt some noob tubing explosives operations. It was unlocking diamond camos that got me hooked on this title. There is also a zombie mode in this game as well as World at War and Black Ops 1.

If you liked playing Counter Strike...I'd go with COD 4. And the other two would be great if you liked faster paced shooters.

Pff, puny cod. Save yourself money and frustration. If you want an enjoyable shooter, get Battlefield 3. BF4 is out this October as well.

I had most fun playing Call of Duty 3. Really enjoyed the maps. I find it a real shame that so many games are designed for online gaming and that single player game play is so short.

You my friend, are about to be seriously disappointed.

C.O.D is a great game for picturing your boss in a platoon of troops and wiping the floor with him if you are good enough to do it.
I seriously use that game for anger management purposes only. lol
