As I said you are welcome to go or stay, it’s you that suffering so terribly at the hands of the evil overlords at Trion after all. Personally I welcome you to stay.. after your ‘sarcastic” -If you don't like it quit- comment ..You’re already half way there.

first, there's more to defiance than you mention. there are different missions around the open world you can participate in. there are also instanced coop missions. and there's small scale pvp and large scale open world pvp.

second, yea, isn't it beautiful? even starting characters can compete against maxed out characters. this is crucial if you want your game to be skill based and not number based like your usual mmorpg.

also, there is no endgame, there are no level zones. you can go whatever and whenever you please. you have complete freedom. no one telling you what to do. except, the coop missions are ego restricted. i think this is another positive aspect of defiance. defiance is pretty much a casual mmo. just jump in, do stuff that's fun for you, leave and come back for more. there's no grind, the max ego is mostly prestige/aesthetic, there is no max anything you HAVE to reach. i like that. but it may turn people off as well, if they expect world of warcraft with guns.

This is the best description I've seen of this game. Well done. Have fun with it, it's a game!!!!!

    Game Over.

We can all agree it may not be perfect but it is an MMO regardless of communication issues.

LOL that's kind of off topic! I didn't really enjoy the read, ironhands. It reminds me that our species is not born with common sense but must be endured in its totality as it strives forever to learn. So far, the good has outweighed the bad and we still exist. I can see how the article relates to voice or text game chat, which also relates to the core meaning of a MMO (imo).

I thought it was amusing. In how it is a creative way to deal with problem players it reminded me of how Rockstar Games put all the hackers in Max Payne 3 in a special group where they would only be able to play with other hackers.

No one is saying that it isn't a ****ty MMO; but it still is a MMO. Meaningful progression and epic on-going story driven content would be great. But those things aren't promised to you just because something slapped the "MMO" label onto its box. That is all this discussion is about.

Of course being in the game with other players and not having any effective way of communicating with them is a first for me. Bravo on the ingenious trolling your players Trion, bravo.

We are going far off topic, but are you serious about Rockstar doing that? That is genius... more game developers should follow suit. Hahaha

it's exactly on the topic you had discussed; you were commenting on the importance of communication in an MMO. What DOTA 2 just found out, is that they were having a massive issues with players quitting as a direct result of the open communication of the game due to harassment. too much, or open communication, can often do more harm than good. the communication in this game doesn't need to improve as much as the necessity to do so, and encourage the social aspects - of course, these are secondary to the main bugs to work out. EVE online went to great lengths to create a more social atmosphere a few years ago, introducing the ability to walk around outside of the ship, in stations; it wasn't well received.
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.
