Weapon level?

What does the weapon level actually do? Are higher level guns better? Or are the levels there so you cant just go farm guns and then give them to your low level buddies. Also what level ego do i need to get to to start getting orange? I just started about four or five days ago and been playing non stop im level 465. Also...are they ever going to make the guns themselves better damage wise? Maybe down the road when they figure out how they actually want this game to progress? Thanks in advance

Weapon leveling helps to give you gun upgraded bonuses like reload, radius, reload, and damage increase. Orange weapons can be obtained at any level. Some weapon can come with a built in damage boost, but from leveling up a couple weapon skill myself it would seem they all get a damage boost when the weapon skill is maxed.
