So the big question is will we be able to do a character data transfer?

What about the purchase of the season pass?

Would everybody be required to re-buy that on next gen?

I might consider re-buying the game but i dont know if I really wanna re do all of the grinding jes to get my outlaw back to lvl 1600.... ( yeah I know thats not the highest lvl but I work 12 hr shifts and can only play a couple/few hrs a week )

    ACTUALLY....

This might be a good reason to put the game down for six or so months and come back and see what theyve made out of it.

I will continue to play Defiance only if my current character can be moved onto the XboxOne platform. If that isn't possible for SyFy Trion to make available then I'll continue my Defiance character on Xbox360 and see how it goes.

I am buying both systems X1 & PS4 regardless if Defiance is there or not. Also currently building a new rig/PC atm to play the coming Elder Scrolls MMO. By that time I prob won't be playing much of Defiance at all because of the coming new games & titles. It depends tho if SyFy Trion has anything really awesome that can keep me playing the game.

Defiance TV show I am perma sub'd to thru iTunes. I hope the TV show runs further then just 2 or 3 seasons would like to see hopefully 7 or 10 if that's possible.

The first line doesn't fill me with any great amount of hope. Anyone can promise a 'should'. 'We're essentially just moving our client between consoles'. If its that easy, why don't they just say yes? But with the talk about no backwards compatibility, sounds like it could be moved over but you might have to buy the game again.

If it can be moved, wicked, I'll keep playing. But if I gotta buy it again, probably not. Depends more on what will be on offer with the promised content before Christmas and possible future content onto the xbox1.

It's obvious Trion would allow you to use current characters on the next-gen platforms.

But you would probably have to buy the game again.

That's not obvious at all. In fact, it's highly doubtful that any of this conjecture will amount to anything more than a "Should", no matter how the article wants to spin hyperbolic hit bait into a never stated "promise". Even so, getting current characters running on the new consoles isn't as simple as just plug and play. There's a reason why you can't currently transfer your console characters to a pc version and vice versa. Doing so from current to the next gen would not only be a lot of work for very little return, but it should be a secondary concern after growing a new player base in one depleting market, and another market with questionable retention potential.
    Defiance branded cereal.
Bullet shaped crispy wafers of corn by product with sweet marshmellow Hellbug skitterlings, and chewy chocolate shield pickups.
For a limited time only, random boxes come with a variant of the popular with kids "Dead Raider Blaster" figurine. Variants include bullet holed mohawk, and brown stained pants.

No likely I will lose everything and have to rebuy it all come time to go to PS4. I am hoping since it seems like the client will be exact nothing is improved except draw distance and how detailed and varied the chars and gfx is so likely look more like the PC. That also means improved frame rates also

What I DO hope however is since likely people not buying the xbox one will have the option to transfer the chars data to PS4. If not there is no way in hell I am buying anything from the store til I buy the new upgraded console version.

Bottom line is no one would buy it if you had to start over and Trion's not that stupid.

I bet if they got the game out early enough they would. Consumer conditioning is a hard monkey to shake. And those that don't transition over to the new consoles still have an ecosystem to play in with the current boxes. I'm hedging my bets on Trion taking as many shortcuts as possible to get this done, and just weathering any fallout and loss from the dejected as being 'acceptable'.
Anyway, it's a moot point. It's just not cost affective to be concerned about a transitional player base when you have bases at all points.
