Played PvE the other day, since I'm new to the game, I do not know what to shoot at, so I killed everything I saw.. both...small to large "bugs" Y that was fun for a time.
But:
I do not mind that people say do not shoot the little "bugs" try to go for the big ones-.
That's the way things are said I react, I do not like being called dumba .. or get lots of F words.. because I shoot small "bugs".
Or is there something I do not understand .. are bad words throwing by other players ..normally in online games?
Finally,, I like the game very well.

luckily, in this game you can shoot whatever you want. you dont have to listen to those folks if you dont want to. there are some "bugs" that wont give you any loot or XP. you SHOULDNT kill them.........but you can if you want to. ammo is free here, shoot it

Well, its not so great they are cursing, though I have to admit I get pretty upset when people roll in and start killing the skitters also. Yeees, you can kill the crystal without them.. it just takes three times as long.

I hate the ignorance excuse since the entire time you are at the Arkfall you have EGO shouting at you "Look! That Skitterling just bit a hole in the crystal!" over and over and over. I figured it out in 5 seconds flat my first time, and I freely admit I am not the brightest star in the sky.. so whats everyone else's excuse?

There really is no reason to be killing skitterlings at a destroy the crystal Arkfall, except to be selfish and only care about "your kills" .. so yes, it makes alot of people upset.

You don't have to be elite to understand why not to shoot the skitterlings at arkfalls. Unless it is a wave arkfall, the skitterlings bite the crystal and make the weakspots appear... The weakspots allow you to do extra damage to the crystal... and the weakspots can't be revealed without leaving the skitterlings alone. The skitterlings are also incredibly weak. Just connect the dots, it is not difficult. Generally everywhere else you should do what you please, but arkfalls are "supposed" to be a team effort, so you should be a team player. c:

There's never any excuse for people to start name calling. These same people probably shot the little bugs (skitterlings) when they started playing, too.

You are free to shoot at what you want to and sometimes it is beneficial especially when just starting the game to shoot even the skitterlings that are biting the crystal-you may have boosts for loot and scrip and can get ammo from them), but here's what people should have told you.

There are different types of arkfalls. The one hellbug one with red crystals features skitterlings that bite the crystal-they help the player because you do more damage by shooting the spots they've bitten. At the end of the arkfall, there's a leaderboard and the top players are those that do the most damage to the main parts of the arkfall. They are the ones that did more damage to crystals AND to the main boss (the matron or the baby bug that pops out of the hellion's head or that flies around-for hellbug arkfalls).

It also can take longer to destroy the red crystal if you don't have the skitterlings' help. If I use my SAW on the crystal normally, I may do 71 in damage. If I hit a skitterling bite, I may do 800 in damage.

But there is also a Pursuit where you have to kill 2500 enemies at major arkfalls, so some people will target skitterlings. They're easier to get the kill shot on. For me, it's all but impossible in this game to be credited with the kill on the larger targets-even when I know I've killed them, the game will not credit me with them.

My attitude at the crystals is I don't target the skitterlings but I don't avoid them, either. I tend to try to direct my attack at the crystal and at the bigger foes but I try a variety of weapons and some have a larger area of effect so skitterlings will die-I can't avoid it. And I have not noticed it taking an extremely long time to destroy the crystal.

And yeah, EGO does say the skitterlings are biting the crystal and all, but still people do have different understanding of all that is going on and sometimes there's a lot of chaos. It's also debatable in the game as to whether it's best to destroy the crystal right away or try to get in a lot of kills. Especially at this time, I haven't once had an arkfall that was even in danger of not being completed in time. That used to happen early on, but not now.

When somebody starts shouting "orders" I do the complete opposite.
I target the little guys and make dam sure to do my best before they get to the crystal.

The point? Why? Because we can play the game how we want and if you want to be a shouty ****** then I too will be the instrument of Karma and be a ****** back.

Well, I'd say it's a team task if it wasn't for the fact that the whole idea is we are all ark hunters and in the story ark hunters are competing against each other. That's why only one person gets credited with the boss kill shot even though everyone gets some xp from it. It's why there is a leaderboard. The only thing that really leads to the idea of it being a team thing is the BMG and revive.

People need to practice more understanding and if they really were working as a team then they wouldn't be calling anyone names over this. Instead they could say "shoot the crystal, not the small bugs" or "the small bugs bite the crystal so stop killing them". Something to actually be helpful to a team member. In all the teambuilding seminars I've taken I've never seen where calling someone a dumba** is a skill to be utilized.

It doesn't help that the three tiers of "Ark Hunter" pursuits require you to ultimately rack up 2500 kills at major arkfalls. Even the seasoned pros who know better will routinely kill everything in sight if they are specifically trying to complete those pursuits.
