I've been doing this from day 1 & it's really handy when you buy boxes, just make sure your inventory is full then the box contents goes to your claims area. Just be sure to to go to claims & select all the items in there first other wise you won't remember what's new as every time you restart the game they all have the gold bar above showing as new items (pain in the ***).

Tip: if your about to do an Arkfall then free up some inventory just for a few items to scrap, although they have now started to give boxes as rewards on arkfalls & these items will go to claims area if inventory is full.

    Hope this gable makes sense.

I've done this since day one. I currently have 270 items in claims storage. At first I was doing it so I could use the guns I wanted to use, and save ones that would be good to use later.

Now, I find it a little annoying for everything but mod cache boxes. When I complete an arkfall and my inventory is full, I don't even see what color the items I got were, and then they get completely lost in the pile of claim items storage.

The same with buying lockboxes. I mean, by level 2660 EGO... I have all the weapons I want to use, or if I don't, I can just grab any other. I don't need to stockpile weapons much at all. Having 100 weapons to go through in your claims item space that you can't tell are new or not without opening their stats up inside the storage already... you don't know what is even new, and it takes forever to find anything. It is a big time pain, and I'm trying to get out of the habit.

But the weapon synergy mod slots, yes, these are very important to still pile up in the claims item space. I mean, what the heck would we do with Precision Synergy Mods for BMG's and Shotguns that we get out of the VBI vendor anyways? Put it on a weapon that it doesn't work with, just to scrap the weapon later in order to keep our 100 REP mods we paid for, while we were looking for the one or two synergy weapon types out of the six that might fit our weapon? Waste of arkfall salvage if we went that route, big time.

Also, if you have multiple characters, the claim items storage space seems to sync up between the two... one claims item storage for both characters. You can't use any of your expensive guns on the high level character for the low level one, but you can scrap them as needed for extra bits or scrip.
You can make all the excuses you want. But you're the one who decided how to live your life.

I don't believe in anything but me and what I can do. Later.

    Why BUY lockboxes...
I'm by no means poor but that seems to be an expensive way to hold items you're going to breakdown or sell anyway.

Because we want that oft chance to get a legendary at our current levels... and some weapons are worth using. I get nice purple stuff all the time, like some sweet purple shields that aren't worth the 1k just to sell at a vendor or crush into salvage. Somebody will pay 5k for them, I'm sure. Huricane Grenader IV DX's don't grow on trees ya know. ;0)

Heck, I just maxed out my SMG skill, by pulling VOT Techmag Pulsers out of my storage, using it till it was full, and then pulling one of the other four I had piled up in there and maxing it out... by the time I used a few, a few more were stuffed away in my inventory. Even with my 85 inventory slots, I wouldn't have had room for 10 SMG's waiting for me to use them someday...

I have 95 slots and an easy time managing between the weapons I want to keep and scrap.
I have not bought a lockbox in a VERY VERY long time and the one I did was by accident (clicked wrong menu choice).
I've gotten very very decent things without using real money.

I'm going to cackle maniacally if/when Trion fixes this exploit.
