Dcuo and defiance are true MMOs in that they meet the definition.

If you think ffxiv is going to be the game that proves MMOs can play and look beautiful on the ps3 you're going to be sorely disappointed. Go have a look at the tour of eorzea video number 2. They show a few nice ps3 zones, then one which is super choppy, then no more, just PC.

The game is going to run on ps3 but it won't be amazing. That said, I'm still buying it on ps3, but my expectations are low.

I cannot wait for this game to come out, this is why im getting a ps3, for that game and FFX HD, im currently playing ffxi on my xbox trying out this new DLC, and loving it! i quit this game to go back to it

I too am really really excited for this game! As soon as this is out it's Farewell to Defiance unfortunately.
I wonder what people are planning to play as classes and all.

I payed and played ffxi for 6 years payed for multiple server transfers. I really want to play the game just don't know if I can get myself to pay a subscription again. I'm still angry for paying for a year of Swtor and that game was horrible.

Since MMO just means Massive Multiplayer Online, Defiance fits that definition. I think you are confusing MMO with MMORPG. Defiance has some RPG-like elements but is closer to Borderlands than Skyrim. Also, FFXIV had some major issues when it was first released. The issues got so bad that Square Enix shut it down and went back to the drawing board. Hopefully, when FFXIV re-launches, a majority of the issues that plagued it originally will have been resolved. I applied to be a FFXIV Beta tester (on PS3) but have not heard anything as of yet. I plan on giving the game a try. Whether or not I stick with FFXIV will depend upon how it is. People can complain about Defiance all they want, but at least there is no monthly fee for Defiance. Hopefully, Square Enix will offer some sort of discount if you pay for several months in advance. AFAIK, the basic monthly fee is $12.99 USD.

Just don't know if it will be worth it. I know some friends getting FFXIV for sure. So I will probably watch them for a month or so.

I pre-ordered this, however I don't expect it to stop me from playing Defiance. Right now I have no trouble playing Warcraft and Defiance, and if anything is gonna drop, its gonna be Wow

Defiance is fun, and free, makes a nice break from WoW. just the fact of Fantasy vs Sci-Fi is enough of a difference to continue to play both
