Did the lock boxes change?

I know they changed color an update (or so) ago, but thought that was just a visual indicator.

Normally I just trade salvage for the tier-3 boxes, but today I felt I'd splash out and instead of 3 tier-3 I'd get a tier-4 .. et voila! first item was a purple, along with a blue and green ... so have they changed the box drops, so tier-4 are more likely (or maybe always) drop a purple?

or was this just plain old fluke?

Never said it was a good sample - and make that 2 now - I asked if it was a fluke, which it might be or have they actually done something and the colors mean something... they've been like it for awhile now, so someone might have an answer.

My last tier 4 today contained 4 blue! Lol
I did get a legendary ar from my first tier 4 today tho
