    Sieges are great but lag is terrible!!!

    Love the new sieges, but the lag on them is so bad that one second there are a bunch of people playing the siege, and the next second it looks like you are the only one fighting - all the purple dots dissapear from the display. Hope they get the lag fixed before it ruins the game mode. They could do away with arkfalls and just run sieges in my opinion!

    yeah the lag is quite bad,personally i think its all the detonator/infector/launcher spam thats the cause of all these lag spikes.
    even in a 4 man co op that launcher that acts like a cluster nade lags the room up everytime its fired.
    in order to fix this people need to tone down/stop the use of these weapons in high traffic areas like sieges/arkfalls or we will never get a siege that doesn't lag like crazy.(wont happen though)

    Good guess but most likely it is because they added thousands of enemies spawning into a server that could barely handle the current strain.

    as i mentioned even in an instanced 4 player co op these weapons cause lag spikes. this is due to all the explosions/particle effects they cause onscreen. in a siege this effect is multiplied 10 fold.
    the number of enemies onscreen does add to this but its all those explosions/particle effects in the same area that is the main cause of bogging the servers down.

    Possibly also character evolvement? Since characters seem to reload at times entering a new area. Higher ranked char, greater inventories, more specs etc that have to be loaded at join of any mp instance.. This is why online only is hard. XBOX live is upgrading from 30,000 servers to something like a million dedicated servers.. How many does defiance have? I heard someone I played with when he got kicked saying he was number 900 and something in the server line??

    Valid point but I was playing in one that not one person was using anything that went boom. Had infectors and a few bmgs bug mostly everyone was shooting non-explosive weapons. Anyways even if 40 people use a swarm cannon that pales in comparison to hundreds of enemies spawning at once. Combine that with other sieges and arkfalls all going on at same time is a large strain on systems and servers.

    i completely agree,all these things combined are causing lots of stress on the servers.
    but i still stick by the explosives and infectors (mainly the swarm launchers) are the biggest cause of the lag and frame drops in the game.
    just one guy using a swarm launcher in a 4 player co op can severely affect the lag/frame rate.
    trion need to adjust certain weapons in the game so they are not crippling servers/instance's when spammed by lots of people,they should up the damage and reduce/elimante the ammount of clusters/bugs that launchers/detonators/infectors produce as the servers just cant handle it.

    The servers used for xbox live have nothing to do with gaming, they are just for the service itself, like the marketplace and other stuff it provides. Multiplayer is hosted on people's consoles or for some games on dedicated servers that are hosted by the developers themselves not microsoft. Their extra servers will do nothing for the end user except possibly faster download speeds.

    But anyway, i don't really lag except when there are 20+ people spamming launchers in front of my face, when i don't lag i can't see squat because of all the explosions so i start spraying until i see dmg numbers then follow them. Mentioned this ingame a little big ago after a siege and a couple people started flaming me and telling me to "cry more" or to "go play wow".
