Thread: Siege tips?

  1. #31
I have terrible luck finding sieges. I've logged in every day since patch, unfortunately only for 30 mins to an hour each time, and I've only been able to participate in 1 siege.

They need to up the frequency.

Sieges happen once an hour starting between :15 - :30.

I generally place well in sieges, the last 3 I played I topped them.

It is possible to start a siege on your own as I have done, as soon as you shoot the infected stuff off a synthesier for the first time, it starts.

As for tips, I perform consistently well (lowest I've ever placed is 6th) and I don't touch AoE.
I use overcharge with the perks that extend it on a kill and reload making it recharge faster. My weapon of choice is an assualt rifle, either a carbine without a scope or a burst fire assualt rifle with a nano effect. My grenade is a fragburst with 32 second cooldown which I always throw as a crowded group as soon as it recharges as it hits a nice 3.6k average.
Other than that I just pick my targets one at a time, and drop them. Even tremblers are straight forward with an assualt rifle, just target the weakspot on its head, 3 full clips with overcharge on mostly kills even an elite as long as you connect with the weakspot.

I am usually in the top 5, last two - first place!

I am using a nano/AoE build. I may not get the most kills, but I get the most assists and points

    Purifier Class:

    Weapons:
Main: Flare Pistol with an expanded mag (Mine is also Elec. Nano - So Fire and Stun) - Cluster Shot would work here too.
Secondary: Matchlock boomer, Big Boomer, or the like - Get one with a Big AoE and any radius bonuses you can get.
Nade: Your choice, Flash, Fire, Frag, Bio.... could be anything you like. I am using Fire just for my "Theme"

    Ego: Overcharge

    Perks:
    Gunslinger (Who aims?)
    Intimidation
    Quick Charge
    Killing Machine
    Regeneration
    Deadly Cascade
    Mad Bomber

Clothing: You have to wear a Gas Mask.... (Just saying) And the Reporter's Outfit looks good as a sort of all-white matron of BURNING DEATH!

    Tactics.... BURN THE INFECTED!
But seriously - Target groups and the Tremblers (The Flare DECIMATES them) - Clean up lone ones as you come across them. Keep the stations clean of infection. Stay on the move and always be firing!

Myself, I tend to use my Ground Pounder detonator since the 1500x3 damage works brilliantly to hit lots of little things, and then if I don't want to reload, switch over to my favorite automatic weaponry in-hand, either a SAW or AR. Full-auto Infectors work well too, since it's easy to spray into a crowd of infected and have bugs going crazy and destroying the infected. Having a build for maximizing damage from explosions helps a lot, with options like getting more damage when you hit multiple targets with the same explosive, and reloading ammo and grenades on explosive kills. The more you explode, the faster you can explode more.

I didn`t read every post in this thread but i think important to say this:
People, there are 4 positions that we must defend, keep at least 3 or 4 players in each position.

The last one i played , less then an hour ago, people was runing one place to another like headless chickens and we didn`t pass through stage 6.

    Think people, think.

    1. Stay and defend one command post
    2. Get the advanced weaponry
    3. What I find best to use is a FRC Heavy with syphon effect and a detonator
    4. Stay far away from the afflicted, so don't use shotty's

That's all I got for now, hope it helps.

Bolinas is the worst siege location to do because of the mobs that spawn up in the platforms that people miss and waste time to kill delaying rounds.

Diablo in sausalito is one of the better siege locations imo and here's why.

    1. 3 of the 4 points to hold have semi direct line of sight (if you know where to stand) so players from one can long range to mobs at another with minimal need to run around.

    2. Those 5k rounds insane rail guns(EGO tells you that an "Advanced Weapon" has dropped nearby) drop at the hold points to help facilitate kills.... and are invaluable on them. They will 100% guarantee you top chart kill rank if you get them and use them during the siege. Just becareful to stand/stay in a spot that limits your chances of getting killed(since you'll drop the gun and someone else will pick it up).

So remember as well where they drop for the points held at your favored siege too.

    3. When there are very small numbers of folks its better to hold one point first. Spreading yourself out between points usually ensures less chance of things. Once all the mobs are dead at one held point going to another is easier to do. Rounds being less will happen either way(dying spread to points or zerging points).

    4. For points that are covered in the gunk, hit the pink puss nodules, they crit like the crystal blisters at hellbug arkfalls and will get the gunk off faster.

    5. Like 4, the larger afflicted got the pink puss nodules as well and should be aimed there for crits. Most of the others you go for the head for crits like normal humanoid mobs. AoE nade rockets etc work best on all mobs cept the pull nodule guys, for those switch to a SAW. Also a SAW comes in handy on the fast moving guys that your explosives cant keep up with at times.

So a rocket/detonator along with a SAW/high magazine single target shot weapon are pretty effective. A nade shotgun maybe a decent hybrid between the two as well.

    6. If you are planning to be at all stages of a siege(thus best chance of score/points), then being at your desired siege location 5 to 10 after the hour is helpful. If one hasnt spawned by 15 after the hour consider using the technique outlined in #7.

    7. Like the exploit with arkfall hunting, sieges do not always spawn during an hour on a server shard. Have many people on your active friends list who you can port to on other shards to gain access to a server shard with an active siege.

    8. Between sieges, tag arkfalls (and use 7 for the purpose too) to fill the time to the next siege.

I have found that a Ground Pounder and Northstar Flare combo works wonders.

A Northstar Flare can take down a Trembler in 4-5 hits doing 2000+ dmg per shot.
Ground Pounder against the mobs of smaller infected with the splash damage perk is incredible.

They mentioned in ATB this week that there is no max stage in Sieges. It will go forever and each time the loot gets better. The timer is the only constraint.
