A couple questions about raider enemies

How are people killing the guys with a shield and a double barrel shotgun?

My 2 weapons of choice (sniper rifle and shotgun) are not good against them. Once they know you're there, they walk toward you and hide behind the shield. I need to be close to hit them with the shotgun, which results in me taking a double barrel blast to the face.

The best thing I've found to do so far is to try to get one with my sniper rifle before they know I'm there, then use a detonator from medium range.

Just wondering if people have come up with some better tactics on these guys, especially when there are 3 or 4 of them or you get ambushed by them during a quest.

Do the big guys with rocket launchers and backpacks that kind of look like flamethrowers have a vulnerable spot?

I've figured out that anything alien is vulnerable where it glows and normal people are vulnerable in their head. These guys I've hit all over (head, legs, backpack) and can't seem to see an appreciable difference in damage done with my sniper rifle.

i found a grenade mod that is kinda like a flash bang that stuns people and makes them . . . well they . . . well they sort of dance . . . and lets you kill the shield guys pretty fast. and i am pretty sure the tankers have a weak spot on the back some where and the shoulders and they some times kneel down and lift up there mask.

Use grenades. Melee attack rioters with sields - then shoot them. Use assault rifles and LMG instead of sniper rifles.

Tanked raider with launcher tend to sit down and remove mask sometimes - shoot him in the face. It's vulnerable and you'll do double DPS.

For the tanks just use a sniper and get a headshot. They will take critical damage like any other enemy,

Decoy power. They turn around and go after it. That and my LMG can stagger them eventually.

Cloak, shoot them in the back.
Flashbang like the other poster said.
My AR stuns enemies with a melee attack even through the shield, melee them and they stagger leaving themselves wide open.
Shoot the arm thats holding the gun
Go up a hill or jump on top of something and shoot down.
Pitch a grenade behind them.

The big guys shoot the tank on their back to force them to sit down. They lift their helmet, i honestly just walk right up to them at that point and empty 35+ rounds into their face.

The raider tanker has a backpack with pistons you need to shoot for it to bring him to his knees. He'll then briefly (and very briefly) remove his mask, which allows for a weak spot capable of doing 2-3k+ damage per hit unless you're really far away. The window of opportunity is slight, and it's not exactly a boss you can fight at close range since he hits the ground with an AOE that kills your shields and sends you flying. Mid range circling is a must. Decoy and cloak work well to get behind him and turn the backpack into swiss cheese.

Or you can just run him over repeatedly with a Nomad if it can fit into the terrain.

You can hit the shielded ones in the head when they have the shield up still, just use the sniper rifle to hit them in the head or if up close melee then blast them when they stumble.

Grenade them so they are knocked back then finish them off. Or use overcharge to force them back. Or use a detonator.

Aim for the top of their packs until it overheats and he has to remove his mask, then shoot his face. Or just lob grenades at him.
