being dropped from the server has nothing to do with your connection as i have a more than average speed myself.

If they dropped the inactive, non playing players instead of the players playing the game there wouldnt be so many people on the server.

Please add a dropping function for inactive players they are filling in the servers, taking our arkfalls, and making our sieges harder because of their own lazy self righteous lazy play style

You're right in saying it happens to other people aswell, but could it be possible that those players may also have a bad connection? It's not just your network provider, even if you have mad download speeds if your NAT isn't open or your router settings aren't set up properly then allsorts of problems can occur.

This has hardly happened to me, it did once or twice and I would repeatedly time out as soon as I walked into a arkfall zone, however an instant jump to the Xbox dashboard fixed it every time. Besides occasional mic-outs and phase change glitches the MMO aspect of this game seems pretty solid for something so new. Infact the majority of complaints I have on this game aren't online related at all.

    Aaaanyways.
I recently opened my NAT settings for better Halo 4 results (Yes I play Halo) before I got Defiance. Maybe that's why it's fine for me, you should try that. Follow an online tutorial and check your Xbox NAT, if it isn't open, follow a tutorial to do so and that may fix your issue as this sounds like the problem is with your connection, not the servers cause I can play fine and my connection is probably just below average.
(This is all assuming you have this on Xbox, however the solution could still be similar for other platforms.)

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

    This.
And for those of us who have excellent internet connections, up to date devices, and already know about their NAT settings and or have adjusted them for other games who still experience issues? I like this game but why do I feel that any negative experiences with the game are often marginalized here by users who have a better experience. Most people like myself are offering good with bad and not bashing the game just expressing what is happening on their end or asking for help. I am not talking about the people who only have negative things to say they are as bad as the people who can not see anything wrong.

My view is only based on a terrible history of Lag, I've always had atrocious ping and have alot of disconnections to this date, but that was before Defiance, I performed the Nat tutorial, but it didn't work the first 2 times. I actually had to try 3 different methods for my NAT to open, so I made quite alot of changes to my router settings, messing with firewall stuff, security settings and opening ports or something but whatever the changes were, they made a huge difference.

For my first experience with a console MMO It's done really well so far in terms of connection. However everything I've said so far is purely based on my individual experience and it differs with everyone. I'm sure if you bare with it for a little longer it will be fixed in a patch. You're clearly not the only one with this problem and you have decent understanding of router settings so the fault is probably with Trion, but many others have experienced this issue too, I imagine Trion are already aware of the problem and are working to fix it already, I'd just hang in there a little longer and a patch will be here in no time.

Also I'm guessing you have already, but if not, try reinstalling all the Defiance data back onto your HD, the fault may be in the installation, though it is a longshot it's worth a try.

Sorry if my reply seemed as if it was directed at you. You were one of the polite and courteous responder's. I think it was just general frustration that some people seem to assume anyone who has an issue with the game is at fault.
The NAT information could certainly help some users and I have posted the link for pingtest.net before which if you want a good online gaming experience knoing your ping response and line jitter will help.

In general it is a shame I would enjoy playing this game a lot more if it could be fixed I don't think I can stick round waiting for that possibility with so many excellent functional games so am just playing through fast but I may save the disk incase things get fixed.

My connection is average for my area and my NAT is open my connection online for gaming is fine but I have been getting dissconects I think some of it is on trions side. But I really wouldnt mind an option of group arkfalls as long as you can search liie matchmaking only reason is the stupid arkfall boss kill shot its driving me mad lol its not even a pursuit I can fail on my own its not even down to my own actions its a virtual dice roll anyway to lessen the number of players and increase my chances im in even if I have to wear a little bopeep outfit on my character for a month lol.

I think that comes from the fact that there are a great number of people (in any game) who immediately blame all and any problem playing on the game and developers themselves. From my standpoint in the tech business, more often than not, the problem originates from the end user.

Again, this is not to say that something as complex as an MMO does not have issues on the development/server end, but in my experience as others mention here, settings on the end user side can be changed to resolve many of the issues people complain about. Certainly your posts are much better thought out and reasonable, but the OP's falls under the former category IMO.

As I said in my previous post, we are at the point where the technology is so complex today that it is nearly impossible to program for every contingency and system spec. At the end of the day, gamers have to realize that some of the responsibility lies with them, some with the developers, and the rest to the nature of the beast. The freedom that PC gaming offers us in terms of configurations is a wonderful thing, but it also has its drawbacks. One of those is that there are going to be games that are just unplayable on someone's systems due to conflicts and incompatibilities, and those are things that sometimes simply cannot be fixed.

According to Trion the 1.021 patch released yesterday has reduced server crashes. I didn't even notice there was a new patch but hey ho. Check it out here, Assuming you haven't tried playing since the patch release, maybe it will work out better for you now.

No, his argument is quite legitimate, and it has very little to do with connection speed. Maybe it is because he has damage numbers turned on and the server can't handle it. Maybe it is because he's on the same node with 50 kids who keep spamming weapons that flash across the entire screen.

My internet is fine, and I still get timed out repeatedly during prime time. I've never once gotten kicked when I played at 3 in the morning, or at noon on a school day.

It kind of bums me out that the 'bonus loot weekends' and such only occur during lag-kill time. I usually have to walk away for a few hours and by then it is never really happening when I get back.

You gotta understand though, this game is nearly a monumental undertaking, as far as the consoles are concerned. I can live with the lag from time to time, and I find other things to do. I don't buy clan bonuses anymore, because of this, and I'm sure as sunlight is bright that the developers would rectify this problem if they could. It's just such a giant machine they're working with, and there is no way everyone will ever be satisfied. It's just the way it is.
You can make all the excuses you want. But you're the one who decided how to live your life.

I don't believe in anything but me and what I can do. Later.
