What exactly does toxic do/why isn't it working?

So I saw a thread where someone had slapped a toxic convertor onto an AR because that would apparently give a 20% damage boost from the first shot until you miss your target. In other words, not the same as what radiation does, despite the fact many claim the two are identical and the result of a change to the game.

So I got my hands on a toxic assault convertor, slapped it on an AR, and tries it out. Nothing. Tried different sorts of enemies, different body parts, crit/non-crit, and it never did any additional damage.

    So, what's the deal?

I did the same on a cluster sg, so I am wondering the same. I don't notice anything either, definitely not the green goo.

It's called Caustic, and once the nano is triggered the target takes an additional 25% dmg from all sources. Radiation lowers the targets damage resistance by 10% and eats up shields.

    We'll just leave this here.

That doesn't answer why it doesn't work. Unless it's not supposed to trigger in 1500 rounds

Try posting this in the "Bugs" section of the forums so the devs know to look at the problem.
I also put toxic converter on an earlier weapon and i think it worked then, but since the team has been fixing some things here and there, they have also been breaking other things.

Well, as stated above, it is a 'nano' effect, which means the chances it will trigger can be very slim sometimes.

I know it's working on some level, because I turned my orange no-bonus-stat berzerker shotgun into a caustic one with a mod, and every now and then I can see that the nano effect has been triggered, because the bad guy will have a glowing yellow-green hazy goo emanating off of him when he dies.
You can make all the excuses you want. But you're the one who decided how to live your life.

I don't believe in anything but me and what I can do. Later.

It shows the graphic but it doesn’t change the dmg done. That’s what they mean by it doesn’t do anything. Unless it IS working and its bugged so that it’s not showing in the dmg numbers, ether way its bugged

I find it strange that they don't even mention the toxic nano on the defiance website or in the Intel screen in the game that tells you the available nano effects. Every other nano effect is listed on the official website and the in-game help menu but not toxic.

    I never understood it either.

Its like they are keeping it secret..."the secret nano effect!"
