weap mod question

im sure this has been asked a million times before. but here goes

if you have a weapon with no synergy and put say stalker mods on it will it have stalker synergy or do you need the actual gun to have stalker synery first?

and same goes if you have an assassin gun and put stalker mods on it will it get the stalker bonus or will that gun only work with assassin mods?

the gun synergy and the mod synergy must be the same

If you put a mod with synergy on a weapon with no synergy or a different synergy, you will still get the mechanical function of the mod (i.e. the 1.5x mag for a High Cap Mag III) but obviously will not get the synergistic effects.
