I hope this game ha more content

i.e traditional raids (i.e an instanced area where MUCH more than 4 ppl can go in and are required to complete the area)

    maybe non instanced dungeons (doubtful)

Basically what I DONT want is for this game to turn into another DC universe online where the game is a blast to play and its fun but after 2 months youve done everything and now youre just logging on an hour everyday to repeat the same daily quests, same alerts and duos every 24 hours then the same 3 raids once a week.

I prefer somethin more like FFXI where I could play 8 years and othre than leveling a character to max level there was so much content that I never repeated the SAME event/things everyday.. maybe twice a week but other than that other days of the week were spent doing completely different things/events and 8 years later its still not boring/feels repititive

Didn't FFXI have years worth of content?

And, Nothing like FFXI will ever happen again, ever.
FFXI was so amazing it's impossible to do again.
    Yeah; it was that good.

This game is just starting; so..

FFXI was also so group heavy that passed about level 10 you didn't enjoy the game much without a group unless you were either a beastmaster with a lot of patience or a masochist. Phoenomenal game for the community it built and the story that you got enveloped in, but games need more balance of single player/group content to survive with most people having time constraints.

I unfortunately am in the belief that this game, at least with the build/beta they are providing right now is very lacking in group content. Even the story missions have solo only content thrown in.

well as for the whole group thing the way I see it.. its an MMO.. why would I play an online game much less an MMO if i dont wanna play with/have to depend on others to get this done? thats how a community is built.. if I wanna be able to tackle stuff solo I have a million single player games.

And Cry well considering when FFXI hit the US it was already 2 years old in Japan so we had 2 years of content from the start. When it started in Japan it was "lacking in content" too however even with 2 years.. DCUO is about 2 year sold now and it still doesnt have half the content of FFXI so we cant use the "FFXI had 2 years of content" excuse for why it was full of stuff to do when there are other games that have proven "just because its been around a long time doesnt mean its content issue is gonna change by then" (DCUO)

As for there never being another game like FFXI.. umm FFXIV and WoW are even close.. sure FFXI is better and has more content than both but FFXIV and WoW still have enough content where after 2 months you havent hit max level, done EVERYTHING and now the only things youre doing is logging on for 2-3 hours a day to redo the quests that reset every 24 hours and logging on maybe 6 hours on a Saturday to do those same things plus this time 3 raids as well.

There are plenty of reasons to spend 8 hours a day (if you wanted too) in WoW or FFXIV.. such as gathering materials for crafting, trying to get and upgrade the ultimate armor and weapons.. farming money to buy <insert stupidly expensive item here>, camping a rare or lottery spawn monster that rarely drops something you can buy for boatloads of cash (or keep for yourself for the good stats its gives), having to spend hours in the end game area farming items needed to spawn the boss(bosses) of that are so you can fight it with your guild etc etc

Im sure WOW has most of those things... Im sure Rift has all if not most of those things, and since Defiance and Rift are done by the same company (even though i hear its different teams) i would hope Defiance will have most if not some of those things as well. Though the reason I think it wont, is easy.... because its free.

With a game that you have to pay monthly for the devs gotta do whatever it takes to keep you interested and thus keep giving them money every month... so that gets done.. with a game like this or DCUO its free so they dont lose anything if you decide to stop playing and adding more content COSTS them more money than theyre making so theyre not obligated nor do the feel the need to keep people around/interested .. FFXIV sucked in the content department too but that was because that game was so bad they devs made it F2P because they didnt think anyone should have to pay for that pile of crap... when its rereleased and will be P2P again this Summer I can assure you (for the reasons listed above) there will be PLENTY to do.. and if theres not "plenty to do" will be added before you get the chance to finish everything that is currently there to do. Unlike games like DCUO where after you do everything you stop playing for months and find something else to do/play while you wait the next content update/expansion to bring you back for another month then repeat the cycle again lol. Lets hope Defiance wont be DCUO

What with the links to the TV show, and it being an MMO, there'll definitely be more content added as time goes by, plus the challenges do make high score chasing fun Of course we've no idea how it'll be in the long run though, so hopefully they'll keep it feeling fresh by changing up things like the Arkfalls, missions and maybe even the landscape itself!

Well the thing with FFXI was that like some others stated and I'm sure you know is that it required a group well before the level sync you could spend hours in an hour /shivers remembering the dunes/. That's why it requested so much time and perhaps gave you so much as well. Having to plan, build relationships with people, gear yourself, etc just to be able to survive and be viable. So all of that coupled together made it interesting. Not to mention sometimes being de-leveled, losing experience and all of that. I think this game will give us some stuff but if you are looking for something in accordance to FFXI I don't believe this will fit it. If anything may as well wait for FFXIV which won't be the same as XI but at least they are "rebooting" it with Realm Reborn and have changed a lot of stuff.
