yeah the biggest problem is the chat interface is terrible and as said there is no central meeting place so everyone is spread out instead of being close together to work things out.
No biggest problem is even if you DO use chat. no one can hear you outside of a very limited range . Its a smaller diameter than /say in most mmos, so no one hears you.
Needs changing to zone wide.

I agree with Strontium, in fact I'd like to see a map wide chat, or map wide phase chat. Even if it's sliced between Mount Tam, Madera, Marin, Sausalito and San Fran I'd imagine more chat would boom since you wouldn't just talk during arkfalls, sieges or towns.
Have you ever turned on chat and listened to what's being said? It's like a bunch of drunk, mentally challenged children who just watched their sister make her first x rated movie. If I wanted to listen to that kind of shtako I'd do charity work in the backwoods of Tennessee.
I want voice chat, but not with that. You just point out the necessity of things being designed properly or they will fail because of human nature involvement. Having a PTT keybind, and another to ignore the current annoying voice participant, and having different voice channels so that communications isn't limited to elbow bumping range - those would make voice chat work well. I think it would bring in real money for obvious multiple reasons. Text chat would be good too if they design it right, it's fail because that is lacking.
This was the last time I will ever put up money in hope and anticipation that a game will work as I expect from all the advertising - it must work or no money from me from this point on. They need first to prove my expectations are met and not just promised, the entire industry, or I will do something other than play games until they can do that. That is my consumer response to being fleeced, imo, for the last 3 consecutive games I started with from their launch. I'm fed up with bait and switch tactics. Games are for enjoyment, they are not a way of life and they do nothing but take my money - so they have to be worth it and not just promises of "some day". To each their own, though, I respect that and only speak for myself.
My forum handle "Skeety" was selected to associate with an internationally respected sport. Flying Arkfall bugs are even more fun!
