He was just stating some constructive criticism. No need to get all harsh on him. regardless, he has a point, the game does lack a bit of depth. I think longer quest chains with more immersive and interesting side stories would make the game better. Most of these quests seem random and uninteresting, to the point where i just dont read the quest description and just click accept.
Convince you to buy a game? Rai say!
- MMO(Massive Multiplayer Online) It's a term used to describe a big game that uses a lot of elements and rules. It's like art. If I flassified this game it would be an MMORPFPS(Massive Multplayer Onling Roleplaying Third-person Shooter) Even though it's more like halo in a sense. And Halo is all "Shoot this shoot that!" The depth is in the fun of killing stuff
- No classes? I beg to differ, have you ever thought of it consciously? BMG's are equal to your paladins. LMG's are your warriors SMG's are your rouges. But YOU have to set up the class, it's not preset for you, aka diversity. The events shall be addressed in next said location below. But I see where your coming from
- Events you say? I have played a few, okay a lot, of events in my 45 hours of the beta. There's more than enough ammo if you take a step back and shoot some critters or other minion guys. It's about dividing your attention.
- A proper PvE dungeon? Well, not that it's my business but when I think of proper dungeon I think of an elaborate maze that has enemies at every turn, you are probably use to WoW.
- Shallow and pedantic?(Peter Gryphon Reference)
Did I break it down enough? Oh, may I also add that the beta is two months old and still is 1/10th of what actually the game is as of current date? It might even me 1/50th or 1/100th by the time the final version is released. So with that being said and with you taking an optimistic view on my responce instead of a close-minded view, I shall bid my leave.
Proof build for 360 is two months old:

^^^^^ This! I am very excited about this game. I stayed away from pvp this weekend as well (even though that is usually the main focus of my play) for fear of not liking it, and I really want to try this game. I really like the idea of a skill-based game over the craptastic GEARZ decides who wins of other games. I remember in Rift (before they woke up and fixed it) how having a higher tier of pvp gear would make a person almost a God and unkillable while two and three shotting lower ranks. They could be the world's worst player but have had the time in to acquire better gear and just would be a god.... with the reaction time and forethought of a not too bright rock >.< but a god nonetheless. I like what I am seeing so far and waiting VERY impatiently for release!
Further depth is also in the way a person sets up their class/gains the weaponry needed for different fights like heal guns, etc.
Threads like this make my head hurt! ^^; Seriously people, you saw the beginner zone and nothing more and complain about lack of depth/challenge. Thought the starter zones were supposed to be a bit easier to get people familiar with the game. Didn't know they required an epic raid boss or something to that effect.

I have to say, I'm kinda confused on this topic myself. I'm on the fence whether I'm going to buy or not, so I've been looking at the discussions here. I think there's a bit of truth to what the OP was saying.
One of the reasons I love MMOs is that my character can level up and get more powerful, do cooler things, and become epic. Unfortunately, with Defiance, it felt like my character wasn't really going anywhere. You pick one ability at the beginning, and then as far as I can tell, you don't get anything except the perks which give you small % to various things. All the stuff you get from the ego grid is just situationally useful 2-5% increases. I couldn't see anything to look forward to, and I think that's the problem.
So what's the real difference between a character at Ego level 500 (the max I think?) and lvl 10? I'll have a neat outfit, and a neat car to drive, and the damage numbers that pop out of the enemies when I shoot them will be bigger. Is that it though? Don't I get any cool new abilities? It seems like all the character rewards are just cosmetic (outfits, etc) or simple number increases. It seems like (outside of tactics needed for fighting bosses) the gameplay at level 500 is the same as at level 10. If there's not much gameplay difference between getting out of the tutorial and hitting max level, then there really isn't any depth, is there?
Maybe I'm missing something. Is there some evolution that happens as you progress in the game?
Granted I was still in the early stages of the game (Ego Level 200ish?) but I really didn't feel like anything changed. I didn't feel like my character was developing or specializing or evolving in any way.
But if that's the way the game is supposed to be, if it's just a fun shooter where your character doesn't really develop and your gameplay doesn't change, that's okay. It just wouldn't be the game for me.
yes because when I think about depth in a game I think World of Warcraft. "Hello adventurer please kill bears till you have collected 30 sets of bear testicals." "Thank adventure take this bear testical necklass as a reward." Walk 30feet "Hello adventure please go kill pig men till you have collected 30 sets of pig men testicals I will give you a nice necklass as a reward" oh joy dont forget that's a daily now so you have to do that once a day till your two is high enough to get the epic foreskin cloak of I've wasted my life.
Is this the depth your talking about.
