An open letter to Sledgehammer70 and the Trion crew

Trion sucks and I will avoid their games in the future purely based on this experience. It had such promise but it's failing like a chocolate fireguard, They need to do something big and productive to convince me they care about the game and customers but I doubt they will.

This would help not ex when I can't group with clan/ friends.

So, you picked one small section of everything I wrote and said "this is the stupidest thing I've ever read". What I wrote about is the overall problems that have existed and continue to exist with this game. But you'd have to be smart enough to understand that.

Honestly I stopped to read at the gun section. I heard you complain against the fact that there is not 10000' of weapons, and that you cant find legendary. Legendary. Should not the name say it all. I would make them 10x harder to get.

It's an MMO its bound to have continuing bugs/glitches, and for those who compare this game with WoW they obviously have forgotten the first couple of months of vanilla.

i get that people want to have all Legendary load-outs however the difference between those and rare (purple) are minimal so why be bothered by it.

as for the following:

@ The person who said "If everyone had an orange weapon then they wouldn't be special", considering that there isn't much difference between a white and orange, your point seems kind of invalid.

does seem pointless to chase after legendary since the statistics are neglect able especially when compared to epics.

MMOs are made to be never ending and as long as there is content being released bugs are bound to exist, and as for the support and feedback of TRION i'm glad they keep us as informed as they have done so far. of course sometimes i wish they would disclose more in information but there aren't many other developers that release as much if any information at all regarding their game support.

It is a shame that there seems to be no reply to this or any other similar threads from any official Trion reps or moderators. You would think that if they do really care about what we are thinking about the game that they would show us with at least an official post on here, even sledgehammer70 himself seems too quiet lately.

Is this a sign to tell us that Trion have given up that they really dont know or care anymore how to get this game on the right track.

I agree with your letter!!! I dropped a lot of $$$$$ I just want to play the game for more then 15 min at a time. I keep getting timed out of the server!!! I got on yesterday and thought something was wrong cause I was on for about 2 hour straight without getting booted off the server. Its a fun game when it works. To bad that is so rare. Fix the server and lag problems and you will have a fan!!

As I am sure you are aware there are and have been massive issues with this game form the beginning, issues that are continuing to this day. Does Trion really believe that they can placate the consumers with things like a 25% XP boost for a weekend (frankly for all the suffering we've endured it should have been 50% for a week) or a sale on bits to try and assuage the amount of anger that is brewing among the fan base? Because I must tell you, it isn't working.

In my opinion you can not have a game that is MMO based and have the entire join phase/start a group/go to friend function not working. Not to mention the things that have required patch after patch after patch i.e. Perks disappearing, vehicles not spawning, massive lags, people getting booted due to connection to server has timed out (whatever the h e l l that is anyways.) server shutdowns causing people to lose time on their boosts and on and on.

Also, it bothers me greatly that many of us, my self included feel that the game was marketed to us with promises that were simply not true. Your fraudulent claim that there were "thousands of weapons" was a joke. There are what maybe 50-60 different weapons total? Different colors sure, some with varying degrees of synergy boost combinations, but that doesn't mean the same thing as "thousands of weapons", not like the difference between a white and an orange weapon is anything to get excited about anyhow. Also, before the game was released we were told that there would be constant game play additions to keep in line with the TV show, there have been what two new episode tie-ins for the TV show in a matter of 8 or 9 weeks? And even when they are added the missions take what, about 10 or 15 minutes to finish? You guys aren't winning any points from us on either of those accounts.

And as far as legendary weapons and tier boxes go. WTF! Look I am a EGO level 1924, in the time I've played I would think I have probably opened at least 100 tier boxes, maybe 200 who know for sure. In that time I have gotten, count 'em 2, yes 2 Legendary weapons, one of which was around level 400, the other around 800. Do you guys think that is funny, do you think I have poured possibly 100 hours of game play into this to get screwed over like that? Not to mention the fact that just this evening I bout a tier 4 and received 3 blue items and 1 green item. Hadn't you guys said that you were guaranteed at least a purple item in the tier 4's. I guess that goes to show what the value of a Trion guarantee is.

This game can be (when it works) quite enjoyable to play. But the amount of trash that we the players have had to slog through is piled up way too high. The addition of the seiges was a great addition, now if only there weren't those massive lag and fps issues that have been plaguing (no pun intended) them.

Furthermore, the lack of steady, up-to-date notifications on what is going on with a fore-mentioned problems is infuriating. The first thing is not everyone is on twitter, so posting most of your updates via Twitter isn't reaching most of the players, it isn't our job to pass along that info to one another it is yours. I have seen nothing on the forums from the developers that addresses the social issues that are occurring as I type this letter. And even if we do get notified on here it's usually nothing more than "we are aware of current issues, and are working to correct them." Wow, thanks for that guys. Don't we deserve to know what is going on and what your eventual solution is? Are you working on a major patch (which makes most of us shudder, considering the patches to have a 1 step forward two steps back feel to them), are you working on a quick hotfix, do you not know what's going on and therefore have nothing to tell us, or are you aware of problem and have no idea how to fix it? We aren't stupid people and it would help you significantly if you were to be forthright with us, we can handle it.

If you guys continue not to be able to get these issues under control you are going to see the amount of people who play this game dwindle, I personally know of quite a few people who have already traded in their copies of Defiance. When we purchased this game we entered into a relationship with Trion, a marriage of sorts with the understanding that we would furnish your gaming world with a population and that you the spouse would hold up your end of the bargain and supply us with a secure and stable platform of entertainment. I dare say the marriage is already on the rocks and we are steadily heading towards a divorce. Clean up your act or we will end up leaving you.

I do not have a lot of time to go over your whole message, but each aspect of your message comes from what side of the fence you are looking from. There are most likely thousands of weapons based on each specific color, then bonuses, then their synergy effect, then each specific modification you attach to the weapon. So with each of these variables added into the equation then there is a considerable amount of weapons.

Legendaries are considered legendary for a couple reasons. The two prominent reasons are that the weapon is capable of providing larger bonuses, which is quite rare ... also, legendaries are notoriously known for being rare. I have been fortunate enough to acquire eight during my first two weeks of game play while friends of mine have not acquired one.

I could go deeper into your message but I do not have the time at the moment. Since you asked our opinion about the message I will let you know what I think. This was a matter you should have held to yourself. Yes, the game has a handful of issues, but you are going off about the wrong issues. I understand each persons experience with the game is going to be different, but you got to realize most of your complaints are personally biased. Let the developers do their thing and fix the game as time goes on. They don't have the personnel like they use to in the past and I bet they have thousands of emails to sift through a day. Either just be patient or take a break and come back after a week.

*** The refunding would be great for some players though. I know a few individuals who lost days worth of evert boost. Will try to come back and go over the whole message after work. Some parts I do agree with. This is not directed specifically at you either. ***

o season pass defiantly regret. not to many people realize it but there game is literally on the line of crashing from bugs. guesss what when it does your not getting you money back for anything.
