    Increase boss difficulty please.

After seeing a number of posts complaining about the games difficulty, and knowing that sometimes things get changed in favor of a 'vocal minority', I'm going to put in my two cents on this issue.

This game is too easy. Nearly every PvE mission is too easy. Nearly every boss fight is too easy. Nim and Jackleg Joe are both just about right, in fact they are the only two challenges this game has.

Please make the DLC bosses challenging.
Please keep in mind that over 99% of your player base are NOT on these forums crying about the boss fights being too hard. Its a few people making a lot of noise.

    Totally agree with this.

Nim and Jackleg are the only two challenges this game has, I'm hoping the bosses in the new DLC are the same difficulty.

    Totally disagree, and here's why.

The progression through the main mission sequence gates access to the side missions and, in the case of San Francisco, entire areas of the game world. Sure, there are ways around not being able to get into Frisco, but basically if you got stuck trying to fight the psychotic game designer who created Jackleg then you were blocked from access to half the game. If you happen to be an elitist a-hole, then I'm sure the idea that "lesser" gamers can't get to some content doesn't bother you, but if you actually want this game to succeed then it needs to appeal to more than just the elitist gamers.

So, while the game continues to block content based on completing an arbitrary, badly designed, sadistic set of quests which some people perceive as challenging, then I say "Hell No!" to "harder bosses." If those "harder bosses" are on side missions, optional content, where they belong, then you can have all the hard bosses you want and you can sit in a corner with them and have a love in.

I take exception to the use of the world "challenging" for these two. Jackleg Joe is simply badly designed. Nim is a brain-numbing grind, but at least you don't get told to start all over again if you make one mistake. If those are "challenging" then... Yeah. No comment.

I'm assuming that by 'sadistic' you mean 'took me more than one try', and by 'starting all over again' you mean having to attempt the boss again, since you don't have to redo the level. Yeah I can see how some people wouldn't like those things.

It's a dilemma. Do they make it challenging for most players, which will make it too hard for some, or do they make it easy for all players so as not to leave anyone behind.

Here's an idea. They can make the bosses challenging, for people who like that kind of thing, and they can add an 'I Win' button to automatically win the fight, for those of you who don't. Then everybody's happy.

EQ1 had tons of content that the "lesser" gamers couldn't get to. Didn't hurt that game and to me is still the best MMO that has been made. That and UO are consider the grandfathers of MMO and UO was down right unforgiving if u made a mistake.

I'd rather see tougher bosses, I always liked the different lvl difficulty to instances were people could still see it at lower aggravation. I don't think main story quest should be different if u can't handle it learn ways to get by it. Wasn't that how u did it back in the day of single player console games? Y does everybody want to be handed everything? What happened to earming it?

Your assumption that “most” players find it challenging is where you fail. It’s had to take your opinion seriously when you claim such things and jump to extremes. It seems clear Trion is trying to appeal to the casual gamer in general. You need only look at the ego/loot systems to see that. Personally I think the game is a bit too easy and the two bosses named here are not at all consistent with tone of the rest of the game.. I didn’t have much trouble with ether boss but I also don’t expect every other player to be at my skill lvl. Perhaps a ‘heroic’ mode option would satisfy all. I agree with Tharcion that an open world game shouldn’t be restricted in which areas one can access do to bosses.

    agree as well.

either adding a heroic mode to bosses or adding new, actually difficult bosses as optional-side missions would work as well. (actually difficult means harder than Nim for me)
    Bongrippa <- PC NA
    VBI Sniper Rifle
VOT Blast Rifle (TACC Invader when inebriated)
    Overcharge (Cloak when inebriated)

You are comparing a PC MMORPG to a console Shooter with MMO elements. They are not even remotely the same. I agree EQ1 was a great game but it was focused toward hardcore gamers where as Defiance isn’t.

P.S. I miss weaving 4-5 songs on my Bard. (before they implemented the “I win button" for bard songs)

I don't think separate difficulty modes are gonna fly in an MMO, but I would be perfectly happy just having some difficult side missions or DLC content.

I really don't understand why some people want every fight to be easy, but hey maybe I'm the crazy one for not wanting everything to be handed to me.

Scaling based on number of perks unlocked would be nice, died a couple of times on my first Jackleg and Nim attempts but wouldn't call them over challenging the first time you face them. However since I like to play through the missions at least once a week (weapon lvling) at 3300 Ego and all but 1 perk slot unlocked both fights are a joke. A good example as to the difference is the mission where you drive the T4 to the dark matter base with Torc and Cooper, the first couple of times I did it I had difficulty getting zerged near the end where Torc is Hacking the 3 panels, now I polish off all the enemies before he has finished hacking the first panel and then stand there dancing for 5 mins while he sorts the other 2. It would be nice if it noticed I was fairly high EGO and added more fodder for my weapons, would also be nice if Jackleg and Nim did the same especially as its an individual instance (assuming you are not grouped) so therefore would not effect other players arriving and perhaps getting owned because they are low ego.
