    Pistols
The only remotely useful pistol type is Magnums. Every other type has low damage/ammo so you'll quickly have to switch weapons.
Rating: Useless, Magnum is slightly less useless
How to fix: Needs more ammo, slightly more damage would help.

    SMGS
They fire fast. This is the only good thing about them. They don't possess the damage or ammo to be useful. The damage drop off on them is about 2ft as well, so you need to be in melee range to maximize damage with them.
    Rating: Useless in 9/10 situations.
How to fix: They simply need more ammo. A lot more, these things can empty your entire ammo supply in 10 seconds flat.

    Assault Rifles
They are SMGs with slightly more range and damage. They are superior in pretty much every way.
Rating: Bad, but better than a SMG.
How to fix: Slightly more damage, slightly more range, slightly slower rate of fire. Differentiate them from SMGs more.

    LMGs
Best weapon type in the game. They have the range and accuracy of a sniper rifle, almost as much damage per shot, the fire rate of an assault rifle, almost no recoil, have so much ammo you need to reload once every few minutes. Only downside is they take a long time to reload, if you even need to reload.
Rating: Best weapon in the game
How to fix: They need shorter range, slightly lower damage and some recoil on them. These things are currently fully automatic sniper rifles.

    Shotguns
They have insane damage. But the range on them is so short if you cannot melee someone, you are too far away from them. In certain situations this makes them useless since you cannot get that close.
There are also 3 types of shotgun, the difference between them is not pronounced enough to be noticeable.
Rating: Situational but potentially useful. Avoid shotguns that fire slugs, these ones are useless.
How to fix: Give them range longer than melee. Additionally, accurately indicate how much damage they can deal. Just saying 100 is useless if we don't know how much shot they fire.

    Sniper Rifles
Some of them have good damage (but it does not feel good enough), but they don't have as much range as they should have. LMGs and even Assault Rifles have just as much range as these do.
Rating: Potentially useful if you can headshot with them all the time, avoid semi-automatic sniper rifles, they are useless.
How to fix: They need longer range, significantly longer range. Semi-auto sniper rifles need more damage.

    BMGs
The only weapon in the game that can heal. This on it's own makes them amazing. Damage wise they're pretty much useless, but you're not taking them for the damage.
Rating: One of the best weapons in the game purely for what they do that nothing else can.
How to fix: No need to, they are great.

    Infectors
Damage wise they're nothing amazing. But they fire fast, and home in on things. And then when something dies due to this weapon, lots of critters come out for more damage or a distraction.
    Rating: Underestimated but potentially amazing.
How to fix: No need to, they are great.

    Rocket Launcher
I thought these things were a joke when I finally got one. It does less damage than a pistol, but comes with about 10 ammo.
Rating: Worst weapon in the game, avoid at all costs.
How to fix: They need significantly more damage. Slap an extra 0 on the end of any damage they deal, that might make them useful.

    Grenade Launchers
These are much superior to rocket launchers. More damage, more ammo, fire faster, can fire around corners.
Rating: Excellent, one of the best weapon types in the game.
How to fix: Fix rocket launchers.

For the most part, I agree with the objections you've mentioned here. Though I'm not sure if the proposed solutions would work or if they would unbalance the system even more.

Pistols are my main gripe. I just pulled an Orange level pistol out of a lockbox. Its stats are off the charts, and all of its characteristics synergize with my build. However, when I put it to use, it's barely more effective than the AR that I started the game with. I also don't buy the "pistols are meant to be a secondary weapon" counter argument. Any weapon can be a secondary weapon. And if you can back up your main with a mediocre AR that outperforms an elite level pistol, there's no reason at all to include pistols in the game. I hope they do something to fix this.

I don't agree that SMGs are useless. They're certainly not as effective as ARs or LMGs, but I got a really solid SMG early in my playthrough, and it worked great as a backup to my primary AR. I'd open the fight with my AR and then switch to SMGs in close quarters, and it easily outperformed my main weapon in those terms. Honestly, it feels like SMGs are right where they should be.

Shotguns, to me, are hit and miss (forgive the pun). There is, however, a huge difference between the weapon types (unlike what was stated here). Autos and pumps perform comparably well, with fire rate and reload speed affected accordingly. However, sawed off shotguns introduce something entirely different into the equation. My first really great weapon was a sawed off, and it was a seriously risky weapon. It could one-shot kill any basic mob, but it was very easy to miss on a fast target and the reload time was devastating. I'm sure that sawed-offs will work well with skilled players who have a very specific build type, but it wasn't really my cup of tea. Like SMGs, I think shotguns perform right about where they should.

Your best material here is what you said about LMGs. I just got a green level LMG and it's the most powerful weapon in my arsenal, by a mile. Funnier still is that its stats suck. It supposed does just over 100 damage, which is a joke at this point in the game. Yet for whatever the reason, the weapon clears out mob waves like nobody's business. Worst of all, there's no drawback to the weapon. It's recoil is equivalent to all the ARs that I've equipped and there's little or no system in the game right now that mimics how cumbersome a weapon of this type would be. In short, this gun will outperform anything that a player has and have no tangible drawback to its deadly nature.

I've haven't gotten to mess with the heavy weapons or alien tech yet, but if rocket launchers are as nerfed as you say they are, then I say, "good." There's nothing worse than a system that rewards explosive weaponry. It will literally break the game. Everyone will carry around a rocket launcher in PVP and there will be no hard counter to the cheese-based playstyle. CrimeCraft was a sh-t game and the biggest reason that it was a sh-t game is exactly this. It didn't matter your skill level as a player. As soon as you got into an instanced PvP, every noob in the game was toting a MIRV-upgraded rocket launcher that could blow up 10% of the map and kill you in one shot. There was nothing you could do. The game was broken before it even launched. So nerf the explosive weapons. That's a smarter move.

My only complaint regarding weapons is that ARs, LMGs, and SMGs all share the same ammo pool. Seriously, what the hell? Each weapon should have it's own separate ammo type or if anything SMGs should share ammo with Infectors.

Ummm Infectors are not underestimated... Theyre ****ing broken as hell and OP in pvp...Everything else is pointless,With maybe the exception of a bolt action sniper.

As for SMGs. Someone has never fired one I take it?
    MP5 fires 800 RPM.
    PP-19 fires around 650 RPM.
    Uzi can fire 600 RPM.

    In comparison to assault rifles.
    A M16 fires 950 RPM.
    M4 Carbine fires 950 RPM.
    SA80 fires 800 RPM.

If you're talking realism, LMGs fire faster than assault rifles, which fire faster than SMGs.
And you have fired one I take it?
Getting information off of a website or out of a book and putting it onto a forum doesn't mean you have fired one. I never said that SMG's had a faster rate fire or they were the same fire rate as AR's.....read a post completely before criticizing it. I simply pointed out the error in your judgement of your statement.
For the most part your weapon balance "solutions" aren't anything more than an opinion. I myself find using the different weapon types and I have no real complaints minus the ones I agreed with you with; with the exception of the rocket launcher as I will agree with the damage type there if you don't play PvP matches, which have vehicles in them. Even then I understand that my complaints are OPINIONS and other players may have a different view and disagree with me.

I agree with this, I dont mind AR/LMG sharing an ammo type, but SMG as well? It needs to share with something else.

SMGs are essentially pistols (MP stands for Machine Pistol for those who don't know) and share ammunition with them in real life. Don't see why they wouldn't in-game.

Don't know who your doing pvp with but by the end of the first day nearly all people in pvp were bunny hopping around spamming gernade launchers in all my pvp matches for the rest of the beta.

I agree with the snipers and rocket launchers. Everything else, ehh not so much. Pistols can be good, i had a 4 shot burst pistol that was a guaranteed kill if all 8 shots hit.Magnums are pretty lame though. Lmgs either have lot of recoil or are severley inacurate but i love them.
