midnight launch is pretty solid, but i feel bad for the techs... theyll be on standby all night and most of tuesday.

the one advantage though is there might not be such a massive influx, europe will be aleeping, consoles will have to wai till the shop opens unless theres midnight opening.

pacific will end up losing 12 hours of playtime theyre basically screwed lol

however what i dont think a lot of people realize is that arkfalls are not the only random events taht give xp. there are random roadblocks and stuff. do them for quite a bit of xp and working on weaopn skills, getting drops to turn into resources for key fragments and more tier 4 boxes (which give oj/purple weapons).

people say gw2 has a grind. wow is also not a grind as your progression is clearly laid out, going this point to the next point doing quests. real grinds were the games with no quests; most korean clones, everquest, SWG pre NGU, daoc, etc. honestly i think the first quest driven mmorpg to land in the west was city of heroes in march of 2004.
I take it soon i will see wtf your endless rants have to do with this thread? I mean really he just wanted to know when the servers go up.

And sorry i don't know either.

I'm calling BS! Trion has had people on shift 24/7 for 2 years now (supporting RIFT). Of course Launch day IS special and almost everyone in Redwood Shores, San Diego & Austin will wanna be on hand to monitor the action and pitch in if/when issues show up.

that's not trion. that's some graveyard shift guy at a data center playing games while he monitors the network health

if anything catastrophic were to happen to the game during this time, it would be down and stay down usually until someone could be called in to fix it.

i've been that datacenter guy a few times.

it was relevent to the post i quoted about a so-called grind in this game. a beta with only 1.8 of 5 zones turned on. no contracts. no arkfall loot. etc.

There will be in-game GM support 24/7. There will be mods monitoring these forums 24/7. Prolly lots more staff online during the US prime time hours. But we don't all play at US Prime time. Staffing will be approprite to the online player base.

as i'm sure you must be aware...as i'm sure you have played other mmorpg's and mmo's before right?...in game customer service is not the same as in game game masters who can actually alter your account or have any power over the server status and health.

i could just be making a big assumption here that you know the difference.

Actually you are making considerable assumptions given that some things you believe arent the same as has been presented by community managers etc.

I ask this question with all sincerity: Is this the first MMO some of you have ever played? It is great that Trion is going for a midnight launch, but this is the exception, not the rule. PC gamers have been "screwed" for years now, since the majority of new MMOs don't go live until around 8-10am PST.
With that said, I warn those of you who will be eagerly loading the game up at 12:01am EST. Be prepared to not be able to get into the game for a few hours anyway. It's not that I don't have faith in Trion, but every MMO ever made has suffered from severe server issues at launch. There is just no way to stress test the servers for the amount of players that will try to get on all at once. For the thousands of people who participated in alpha and beta, there will be tens of thousands more trying to get on for the first time. There are already posts with people complaining about not being able to log on due to server issues. This will be a tenfold problem come launch day. Again, something PC gamers have dealt with for years.
So I ask that some of you check your enthusiasm a little bit. It could be a bumpy first few hours. I won't be worrying too much. I work overnights at a hospital, so technically I would be "screwed" anyway, since I won't be able to play as soon as the sun comes up. I'll be too busy sleeping after a 16 hour shift
