I know something that would make PvPers happy; Give us all guns that do 1 damage no matter what and shoot nerf darts at each other in PvP, and only PvP. Everyone will be on an equal playing field!

and to clarify what i said im not saying nerf shotguns , im saying nerf cloak. My idea for this nerf would be to have it where hostile players are more Visible when moving at full speed while cloaked (ie hwne you see a teammate cloaked visible) while still retaining full invisibility if idle or moving slowly. Shot gun dmg is as it should be.
I agree with the separate weapon stats, but right now half of the population from launch have left, why? Because they were pvers only, that side of this game gets no love, aside from episode missions that are honestly mediocre. Pvp is the only thing keeping this game going, for example the trading forums, if you honestly think people are buying weapons for pve, go shoot yourself in the foot for being an idiot, practically all of the forum post involve pvp so that shows how truly intricate it is to this game, and like i said this game is a shooter first, shooters pride themselves on their competitive play.
Shotguns were brought in line to be context weapons(close quarters) while infectors have no limit to them<-- this is why they need a nerf, a weapon that is "meant" to be an anti sniper context weapon is instead an long range autoaiming, roving explosive ai spawning, tick tock damaging, burst weapon of doom, it overachieves its context. And not only that, when 75% of the population uses one gun there is something wrong with that, instead of versatility in pvp you reach a stagnant cesspool of bugs and puss filled battlefields of people who will not branch out and explore new weapon types because one weapon is overpowered and they would get crushed by it if they didn't use it themselves.
And the same can be said to you, if you don't like the nerfs that spill over from pvp don't play mmos because the pvp, like it or not,is the only population that is being vocal, which means they will be heard.

Pve is more important (not saying pvp isn't important either just a wider audience) and nerfing is not a solution because it is always over done and then the weapon is useless. Dividing the weapons stats would be nice but much to complicated if they kept the random factor so your wanting something like call of duty where everything sucks.... my suggestion go play call of duty then.
The reason 'half' in your words, which is taken from legitimate sources, of the population from launch has left is because they bought this game with far too high an expectation. The friends that I know personally that bought this game did so with those exact thoughts and also because well.. they're not frequent PC gamers nor do they surround themselves with MMOs or anything that requires substantial detail in any regard, is because they don't realise that MMOs typically have bumpy starts when starting off. Over time they improve, but they will not improve if they don't have a constant and steady flow of money. This is a no subscription fee game, B2P of course.. what did you expect to get it for free? However, those that left almost never realised the importance the in game store serves.
Please, show me where I said that I thought players purchase weapons and such for PvE. I hardly see the forum consisting mainly of PvP threads either.. are you sure me and you are using the same forum? If Trions main focus was PvP then they would have dropped the whole concept of this being a MMO with PvE aspects of which greatly outnumber what is offered in regards to PvP as it stands now. PvP has what.. a whole four maps now? Pft, wait till I catch my breath there.
Compare an infector with any weapon that exists which can realistically represent how they're supposed to act. It's ok, I'll wait.. can't think of one? This is the problem. Too many are looking at the weapon with that mindset and trying to group it into a specific category of weapons that already exist - there is no category that infectors can be placed in. Why? They don't exist, it's that simple.
The only way, other than having separate statistics for both PvE and PvP is to compromise and discuss which each other what exactly the purpose an infector should achieve. Should it be solely a support weapon similar to a BMG seeing as the bugs do the majority of the work? Or should it be viewed as a solely offensive weapon? Why are infectors 'OP'? It's because they can be used in both of those ways, why not have them set so that they're limited like the charge for BMGs? That would at least reduce the use of them to an extent and not necessarily harm those who use them in PvE, plus it helps lower the dominance that they have within the PvP side of things.
If I lived with that mindset I'd never touch a single multiplayer game in my life. The same thing happened with BF3 and it's also one of the reasons why I very rarely even touch that game, the 'nerfs' for it completely unbalanced what was already effective. But I'm not going to go into too much detail into this as it's an entirely different game. But I will say, a weapon will and is meant to be overpowered when pitted against another weapon. If this doesn't happen then every weapon is equal and completely useless.
This is what has happened almost every time in every single game I have ever played that had a forums, why? Because those who enjoy the game are far too busy enjoying themselves than to worry about posting on forums. Who can blame them though, forums mainly consist of 'nerf this, nerf that' threads, complaining, weak attempts at 'trolling' and just a bad atmosphere in general. But the vocal minority, which seems like the majority because the real majority isn't actually there to begin with, is making it seem like everything is wrong with the game at hand. I'm not saying that this game is perfect, it's far from it but it is definitely a lot more enjoyable than those that I currently own and have played.
I find it absolutely hilarious that people take the PvP system for this game so seriously. Why even care about it? You have no global leaderboards, you have no where that keeps your scores, K/DRs aren't stored and it doesn't even matter whether you place, first, second, last or get disconnected. Why? Isn't it obvious? There's absolutely zero reward out of that which makes it even worthwhile in doing so. I'd dare to say that a few players only bother with PvP because of those pursuits and even then that's hardly enough reason to push anyone who's reluctant to give PvP a try to move towards it.
Oh and so you're telling me, along with everyone else who says the same, that if infectors get 'nerfed' that PvP will all of a sudden be perfect?
HAHAHA.
First off, i used the trading forums as an example for this game now being pvp oriented. And you speak as if you know mmos yet you can't see that pvp is this game pseudo raids, and like in most mmos, 90% of the other content is meant to help you do the other 10%. ( 90%=pve 10%= endgame content, raids and pvp) those who wish to do only the 90% good, enjoy it, but for those who want to experience everything this game has to offer it is necessary to find balance between all of the weapons that encourages experimentaition, not "i can't beat this guy unless i use the exact same thing he does"
And you are only helping my point with infectors by saying that because they don't exist they can do anything without any drawbacks . they over exceeded any possible context because currently there isn't one, alongside the fact that they have to many effects that defeat the purpose of multiple playstyles, tracking cloak, autoaim on blur users, disable ADS for over charge users, heck it can spwan bugs from an effing decoy, a hard light projection that is in no way capable of being "infected", it does to much.
I enjoy this game as well, but infectors and dets make pvp close to unbearable at times, you are forced to run away from one inefector user just to run into another, try to turn around... No wait there are still 15 bugs chasing you. Its just stupid, honestly i try to get killed by ARe and smgs, it actually relaxes me knowing people can kill me without infectors or dets.
And if you actually followed this game, you would know that pvp leaderboards are in the process of being implemented that comes with player ranking and clan ranking, which adds even more relevance as to why this game needs to be balanced now rather than later, i would prefer to see a team of versatile players( one infector in the group is fine), but an entire team using the exact same loadout just screams poor competition. And no it won't be perfect, but atleast it will give people the chance to explore new combos and find thier own playstyle, and like you said i doubt it will be the last nerf if it occurs but, like with WOW, the majority who cling to the OP weapons/perks will hopefully decrease as they find something new.

Then they will also need to nerf the other non aimed weapons.
But Infectors need to be fixed (rolling soon remove bugs, like it removes fire etc)
I still can't see why the bugs do not go after anyone who is nearby (even the shooter), instead of just going after the Reds.
