Better Security ( we all know what happend with PS3 and the cyberschock) cyber crime is becoming bigger and i know ill Always be safer with microsoft.

Hacks,Mods, third party programs/hardware. what does 24hr checkup do to the F*ers?!?!

It stops them (this sets my mind at ease more than anything i can think of relating to gaming)
And we all know this stuff is going to get worse - already is

That is what will make me stick with Xbone, and since the games that i play the most/longest are online, whats the big deal?

all being said, both are looking strong in their own right IMO, i just might have a bias towards xbox because i am more familiar with it, and i just find the controller better to
personal pref really. but this and many other moves has sent me into Sony's wide arms.

to me the top 3 cons for the xbone is:
    1 - drm
2 - parole check in (min 24hrs offline)
3 - mandatory use of the kinect (console will not work unless the kinect is connected)

They are looking to the future of being online all the time with everyone. If you don't like it go to the pawn shop pick up your old console and play solo offline while the rest of us are kicking it with the world playing the new stuff. And if the internet or the power goes down, big whoop. There is still life to live and experience.
I see your point, but I travel about 6 months a year for work and play X-box in my hotel rooms. Sometimes I'm unable to get wireless at the places my company books for me. So now because of that my game becomes junk because of my job, that's not a very fair practice.

I'm curious about the whole required online status thing.

I understand no Internet means I can't even play single player games (stupid as hell, but oh well).
If my Internet lags, does that mean there is a chance my single player game will drop my connection due to a hiccup in connectivity?
What happens to playability if the mandatory 24 hour checkup window is missed?
Mandatory kinect? Does that mean we MUST use (and listen to) its mic? That alone will be enough for me to never buy the thing. Open kinect mics just make me want to hurt people...lots of people.
It appears xbone is trying to compete with PCs in the aspect of digital property/downloads. If that's the case, however, I can sure as hell make a better performing PC compared to xbone.

Again I keep getting hung up on the "no Internet, no play" aspect. More than 90% of my game library is single player. Why is Internet connection being made a mandatory requirement?

The more I read about the xbone the more I don't like the advertised product. Last time I checked I bought every console I've owned because it was a GAMING console. The xbone is being primarily advertised as a media center.

I'm genuinely horrified with the direction MS is going with their next gen console. Xbox360 was/is a gaming console. Now MS is straying from that path and trying less to make a gaming console and more a "it does everything but wipe your ***" console.

    according to xbox.com

While a persistent connection is not required, Xbox One is designed to verify if system, application or game updates are needed and to see if you have acquired new games, or resold, traded in, or given your game to a friend. Games that are designed to take advantage of the cloud may require a connection.

With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies.

as for personal opinion i'd like to be able to play regardless if i have a connection i still take my console to friends every now and then and i don't want to check if they have WiFi at home or not.

also seeing how hardware wise the differences are neglect able and the PS4 is 100$ cheaper it really comes down to what games you want to play.

i'm a Microsoft supporter with my Windows PC, Phone & xbox i would like to keep the set with xbox included i'm just not sure enough if the 24hr limitation is a deal breaker for me yet i might end up buying a PS4 on release and wait out if xbox reconsiders the offline limitation.

MS doesn't get hacked? While the style of hacking is different, MS very much gets hacked daily. I have a password like a pgp key and someone STILL stole my account a while back. Lots of people are getting shut out of their accounts daily, content gets downloaded, MS points stolen, etc.

They are doing it for DRM alone. It has nothing to do with hacks and everything to do with profits. The only hack they are concerned with is the playing of copied game discs.

Which does nothing at all to replace your stolen box. I suppose we should change our cars to match. Check in online to access the fuel system otherwise no driving for you. But it prevents a theft right? Awesome logic dude.
