...old school final fantasies...

I know this may be hard to believe, but I used to be mostly illiterate till Final Fantasy 3 (6 Japan). The first FF (and RPG for that matter) I ever played, my bloodbro got me to play it one summer. The next year I was reading and comprehending at a level much greater than my peers (well, most of them).

I owe so much to that game...

lol, very true same here, the 1st i played was on the original nes, since then ive been hooked on that series now there is a few that i think really sucked, crystal chronicles comes to mind, it came out on the gamecube i believe...the 1 i played on the pc was ff11 and fell in love with it ( i had an elf from sandori and he used the monk skill ), just loved the mog house where you ca store your stuff and plus the holiday gifts the devs give ya when you log in on that particular day ie crystal easter eggs, a christmas tree etc etc, im wondering how theyre gonna do the next final fantasy online game cuz ive seen some vids on it and all.

final fantasy is a series that taught me a looooot about patience lmao, especially the 1s on the original ps 1, those darn bosses were infuriatingly tough, you had to make sure your spells were maxed, then when they came out with materia in 7, then you had to make sure you had the right 1s equipped, especially when you fought the emerald and ruby weapons lol

I never have had any problem with any FF, I play on 'Active' mode as well. I haven't played any since 9, The story just bored or lost me somewhere and I just quit.

The hardest boss in any FF I faced was the storm dragon in FF3 in the New World. He beat me once with that dumb pearl sideways tornado move. The whole rest of that run I was fighting off my back trying to keep my people alive till he wiped me. I forgot what I did the next run and beat him, I might have used Wall rings or something, then cast wall on the dragon and heal myself through him.
I don't know for sure it was many years ago, and when I beat him I didn't look back.

I think what happened is I played Xenogears and it spoiled FF for me. IMO No FF will live up to Xenogears, both story and combat system were fantastic. One of the fews games I did not mind all the many random encounters.
What was up with Xenosaga and does anyone know how it even connected to Xenogears besides the universe they existed in?

I got super sad when I beat Xenogears because I didn't want it to end... it felt like someone died. I still don't know who the red hair "Id" guy is who was one-shotting gears in human mode in the cut scene. Is it supposed to be Fei's id? That game could have gone longer

yeah i used wall rings a lot against bosses, cuz they cast reflect on ya unless its an elemental boss ill use them, come to think of it i might play it some tonight lol

12 was alright on the ps2...loved the hunt quests cuz there's tons of monsters to find, and they only come out at certain times or if certain criteria were met, hell i still havetn completed the monsters log and i have over 244 hrs on that darn thing, plus i beat the game, now final fantasy x will test your mettle with those unique monsters that that monster rancher guy creates, cuz even if your char are maxed and all, those darn things can still kill you in about 1-2 hits if you dont have all the skills set just right lol, like bix, i get nerfed so bad on that game when i fight those monsters, i think i went through about 2 controllers when i 1st tried them lmfao..the cool things is you can pick which unique monster you can fight 1st, so you can set your skills accordingly and hope to god you can last more than a few seconds in the round lol...getting nerfed when you have all your stuff maxed out, have all teh legendary weapons, can be a really frustrating and final fantasy games can bring that out really quick lol
