New DLC coming in July - gameplay video included

I must be a weirdo.. in that I don't think end of July is A: all that long to wait.. or B: outside my expectations of delivery since the game has only been live since April 2nd. That's four, almost five months from live to get a major update? I can't think of to many other MMOs that did it any faster.

Given that it was due much earlier, late July is a long wait.
Given that they have to get 5 DLC out before April 2014, they're dragging their heels.
According to them, it's already done (not sure I believe that) and that the only reason it was delayed is because of bugs with the current game, which I can believe because they've bumbled their way through the patches.

Also mmos usually don't get DLC, they get expansions and other mmos usually have a lot more content at launch than this game did. Expansions usually come out after a year and contain what one would think is in an expansion, a complete revamp or update of the game, which this DLC is not doing. This is not an expansion, it's a DLC. comparable to a single player game's DLC. So in terms of content, 4 months is ridiculous. Given their track record with every patch, it's going to launch broken and will most likely be delayed.

He's probably over estimating the release date just to cover trions a**. Hopefully be out sooner, either way it's really not that long of a wait.

No your not weird for thinking this. I am thinking the same thing. People were demanding the DLC a month into the games release. Which is just stupid in my eyes.

I agree with you guys. The reason most ppl are so made though is that from my understanding the dlc was already supposed to be out, but they pushed it back due to the bug and various problems. Im ok with it but i do really wanna see some new content. July isnt a long wait though, i just hope it comes out when thdy say and the game is a little more polished with this month and a half they have till then.

Why is there a date of april 14 2014 for the 5 dlc's? I thought the game came out in Dec even then 5 dlcs on a season pass was ambitious they usually space 3 -4 out over a year between games. The first releasing not long after the game. I have to ask too when the new consoles comes out do people need a new game does the season pass transfer and why the hell can they not give dates. I know the 2 season pass's I have came with a price, planned release dates and trailers before. they deliver on time to the minute with increasingly amazing content. Any remaining DLC's are due BEFORE November and the new consoles.

If Defiance is launching on xboxone and ps4 and there is not even official trailers or marketing for dlc 1 where and how are they finding the time to work on dlc 2, 3, 4 and 5??? On top of getting through the current issues. I had a reply yesterday that I will have to wait a few days for a boost refund support is so behind. No offense to the people who keep the forum informed but right now this whole scenario seems very implausible. I am glad I do not have a season pass and am nearly finished with the game.

This is an example of how not to market or run a business. Deleting the worst threads might help but the chat across defiance when it works is much the same - fed up players with little hope of getting a game they did love to play properly. Most are just grinding out the same things daily. The new gen games will sadly wipe the floor with what is left of defiance at that point.

Trion themselves promised that all 5 DLC's would be released within the year.

Due according to whom? I only remember them saying "5 DLCs over the next year.".. never saying "And the first will be out in May.". Now they have said that the "DLC will be delayed cause we are sorting bugs" .. I recall seeing something like that.. but since there was never a hard release date, we don't actually know how long that delay really is or if the original internal deadline they had has even passed yet. for all we know the original DLC release was aimed for end of June. Its all speculation.

Two things. First im positive they have dev teams working constantly soley on the dlc contenr, so theyll have them done well before the target release date. Theyve said this first one is just late because they wanted to flesh out bugs (seperate team working on bugs) before they launched it so it didnt cause even more issues. Second they dont just "delete the worst threads", they delete threads with no logical or constructive feedback. Every game forum ive been on does the same thing. They delete threads that are nothing but rage filled rants that add nothing to game discussion. You know the ones im talking about lol.

One thing I notice he says in there is "5 DLCs between season 1 and season 2." .. maybe that was always the plan.. a way to keep us dialed into Defiance while the show is off the air. Kinda makes sense to me.
