I Think I Have Finally Learned My Lesson.

I think Defiance has finally taught me a lesson. I have said it before after other games, but I am sure I will not make the mistake of preordering anything other than the basic edition of a game again.

Defiance is an OK game. I enjoy playing it from time to time. It is no Borderlands or anything, but it is defiantly not a Space Marines either.

I'd say that's a good call. Buy the game, not the fluff.

Hey me too I also had/have lifetime mebership of Hellgate London

i liked that game sadly it was not maintained very well.
Strange since it was made and managed by half of the original Blizzard North team including Bill Roper (I think).

I still play it on Hellgate Global as a free to play, it's ok....

Another Hellgate: London Lifetimer here as well. Hellgate you'd think been my turning point, but for some reason I still give games a chance... Though I'd have to say in terms of content and story... Hellgate did have more going for it.

I'd be honest, since Hellgate London, everything Roper touches doesn't make any money.

    Hellgate: London
    Champions Online
    Star Trek Online

I'd be afraid/interested to see what he does next.

I totally agree, the game was compelling. I'm starting to have some deja vu here a little with the way things are turning up in Defiance.

People are misinformed about lifetime subs. Excellent deals and you hardly ever lose any money if you like the game.(which you should have done homework before shelling out a lifetime fee)

I have Lifetimes to DCUO and The Secret World.

Since DCUO is about the storylines and raiding with some PvP mixed in (plus I can be my own hero/villain) I don't regret that purchase. Bought Jan 2011, still playing so based on monthly price, I'm playing free now. (based on $15/month). I get several hundred cash shop credits to spend each month as a lifetime sub and all content is free. You know it's a good deal because SOE doesn't even sell it anymore because they make more money off people playing free and having to buy skins/DLC in the shop. You don't know how many people keep saying "I'd wish I could have gotten that lifetime sub still", but Sony knows they'd lose too much money.

My cost: $200 plus cost of box.

The Secret World is going the shaping up the same way. Money each month free to spend. All DLC free, all account access for all toon bonuses, etc. $200 plus box.

Lifetimes can be good but you have to know that you:

Like the game and trust the company. That's what betas are for. I tried this beta and play the game but no way was I going to buy the DLC based on what I saw.
