I did not use that as a negative for the old price, I used it for the new price if you would pay attention. If you add 100$ extra for a kinect onto the old launch price of the X360, what do you get? The X1 launch price. It isn't that hard to figure out if you pay attention. Kinect should NOT be apart of the system, it was a worthless gimmik that Microsoft is trying to use to lure in Nintendo's "gamer" market. It was never a part of Xbox and never will be, no matter how many times they try to force it down gamers throats. When the X1 doesn't sell well they WILL change the software and the policies and it will be a real console. That is Fact.

I hate the kinect, I don't see why they can't have a Xbox One that doesn't require it, maybe that will be released a year after I don't know.

Yes I know all the reason, that you HAVE to have it but possibly in the future after they've noticed their mistakes they can try and fix some of it.

Well i'm not gonna research teh numbers since i do agree that the quality of the orignal xbox was lacking. the newer ones however have a pretty much 0 failure rate. i've never even hear dof one of the new style ones ever failing. Tahts where i come wary. the 360 was rushed and was made to be cheaper then the PS3. the reaosn was the PS2 dominated teh market and MS had to do somehting to compete with it ,whiel sony released the PS3 at its normal pace and with up to 600 dollar price tag. now in thsi gen i see the PS4 being cheap and i wonder where they skimped and teh 1ts thing that comes to mind is the heat sinks. I feel like the PS4 is gonna have a high failure rate.

and nobody lost their house or died in an xbox fire so come on. i mean a dell laptop blew up during a conference 1 time but lets not exxagerrate and say they are crap prodcuts

there are several in fact, to include some deaths, the most notable making it to newspapers were in 2007 and 2008. M4 still have several suits pending for these issues, as some families are not going for a simple payoff. (these were usually due to the power brick failure before a solution was mandated.)

the failure rate today is just over 54%, even if yours did't die, those are the actual numbers. That fact alone should help clarify the issue as to why "sales" were so high, when you look at the full financial report you can see a large chunk of those sales are not initial installments but replacement systems. Though these numbers help to understand why m$ reported such high sales, it also makes the calculating of actual customer sales more difficult as not all sources can or did record this type of data. M4 (no, it's not the only company) like to fluff their numbers.. a lot..
go to their official web sites and game listings, in their total they are counting games that are not even in development yet, and games that have long since been canceled.. their stat inflating really is overboard. I sat down with the data and literally counted out the actual xbox 360 games for NA.. and it was not large. even if you roll up the "reverse compatible" titles, arcade games and such, they still fall roughly 9,340 titles short compared to PS.. but that is another subject.

Where did you find that pic?! I totally wear that outfit when I'm gaming! And it's nice too cause the latex was chlorinated, which makes it shiny without products AND makes the latex hypoallergenic so that most who have latex allergies can actually wear it! XD. Cept those ****** shields kinda suck, those hard plastic buttons have no give to them..

It is all software based. A quick patch could update and change everything. They could easily change anything they wanted to, but my money is they wont. Not for awhile atleast.

From what I understand, the PS3 was expensive due to its in-house Cell Processor that they built specifically for it. That was the bulk of why their console was so expensive at first. This time they learned and are using a different one, one that isnt built in house so they aren't dropping so much money into it. Also I do want to point out that the X1 being sold cheaper then the X360 was at launch. And in my mind the X1 is more expensive because they are all being launched with the Kinect, which is an expensive device. They are kind of reversing themselves.

Hopefully Sony and Microsoft both learned from the X360 and PS3's overheating and failure problems and fix them. Better consoles for everyone is just better.

correct. sony, in conjunction with ibm and toshiba, developed alot of went into the ps3 with power and long lifetime in mind. The cell processor pushed the boundry of architecture, now amd and intel are following with their current multicore development.

at the time of release you couldn't build a pc with that much power in the cpu, all those procs at 3.2 ghz, the nvidia card WHICH had the integrated physx, multi card reader, bluray drive, usb, blutooth, hdmi and standard av output, so on and so forth, would have cost you roughly $13000 in parts to attempt building. While $600 is too much to ask of a console gamer, the hardware was worth much more than that at the time.

now, sticking with mostly off the shelf stuff, we can see a cheaper system, the custom parts are from ATI, which also makes it cheaper (but potentially MUCH less reliable), the design of the consoles, being mostly square, also adds to reducing costs (the more round parts the more expensive to produce).

i google console wars and its part way down. and i can imagine those hard plastic buttons would be most uncomfortable on your breasts

Not for me, but I never believe the rumors. I never thought Microsoft could do something as stupid as Windows 8 in the same generation.
