    The power is the same so higher level players dont outright one shot lower levels. They want the PVP in the game to be somewhat competitive and not who has the best gear. I think they mentioned this in one of the more recent livestreams. But as your EGO rating goes up the variety goes up and you save resources not having to open up mod slots on newer weapons. Also, you can level up your gun and it gets small bonuses so it stays relevant.

    Their not my lvl 600 weps do more than dmg than starting weps not by a lot but they do more dmg its just not as huge as most mmos usually go

    That would make sense fang.
    The EGO rating is in fact related to how many mod slots are already open on a weap, not to have to waste tons of resources every time we find a new one. Although so far, when we find a new weapon, the reason to keep it and/or switch to the new one, is not stats, as they are not better, but would be the variety, lets say i have a shotgun, but i want to use this new Infector i just found.

    The color: White -Blue -Purple gives better stats.
    The Ego rating on the wepon: Gives more mod slots already available to use.

    No time to ride the line!

    MMO =/= rpg

    MMO = Massively multiplayer Online

    MMO + RPG = MMORPG = World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Lineage.

    The reason the weapons are close to even is for balance issues and to keep everything stable in pvp, it also prevents EGO rank 5000 guy from rushing into a shadow war with lowbies and just one shotting everyone with a BMG.

    Having a higher ego rating allows you to find more variances of different guns, with more attachment slots, slight variations in stats depending on how high you are and different weapon effects. It gives you upgraded versions of shields, and likely much better mods for your weapon which are the main source of weapon variations.

    Increasing your EGO Rank ( not its not a level, just a measure of how much you accomplished ) Also increases things like the amount of loadouts you have, perks you can equip and strength of your perks.

    This game is aimed to firstly be an MMOTPS, with stats taking a second seat. Skill first, high stats last.

    The rank stat on weapons prevent people from trading later variants people of lower rank can't normally have access to. As well as prevent them from getting pimped out higher end weapons until they reach that height of EGO.

    Best explanation so far i say. It makes sense as a good mechanic to keep the game well balanced.

    balance reasons yeah - its hard to add scaling weapons - specially damage wise - but havign the stat there is just confusing.
    Ego itself isnt useless yea - even the drop rates or mroe varieties etc are just basically "passive skills". Nothign to do with the nibner on the weapon.

    Even level limit doesnt make sense (a low lvl one has same potential to get all 4 mod slots + orange + mods as a lvl 1000).
    IF there were bigger visual changes, more fancier lookign stuff etc - then it would have little use - but as of right now its a almost completely useless value - the different varieties that unlock at 200, 500 etc could have simply been solved with soemthing like "Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3".

    The ego could and should provide some bonus - for example 500 ego weapon would have 50% more max exp limit then a lvl 1 (10% per 50 ego). Or even sell value - even that stays the same basically right now - could be like +10% value (scrip 10%, gulanite 5%) per 50 EGO.

    I think the main point of the ratings on guns is to keep people from tossing weapons like a grenade launcher or bmg, or infector to lower levels that way they have to work to get them. Also like it was said before i think its so that a level 1000 Ego rating can party up with a level 50 EGO rating and still have a bit of a challenge. I like the way the system because now I'm not constantly switching to a new pistol or sniper and i can build up the weapon xp to get the bonus out of it plus I'm pretty sure the weapons were seeing now are just basic things, theres probably going to be stronger mods we can use but only at the right ego rating.

    Well post this in the beta section of the forums and maybe they'll consider it. Thats the whole point of the beta to here our opininions on things and critic them and offer suggestion. I personally don't mind the system because when an arkfall occurs i still have a decent chance to be the top ranked player in the event just like the others who are 600 700 or even 800 ego rating

    This is my first post here but I figured I would add in my 2 cents to the discussion. I feel that like others the weapons should indeed increase a little more than the near non-existent stat boosts they give now. However, I feel to keep the pvp balance they could do what I have seen a few others do for pvp as well.

    This being something that was referred to as an "equalized mode" in one of the games. In this mode, every person depending on class has the same stats as any other person of that same class regardless of equipment they used. How I feel this would work here is slightly different. Instead of every player stats being the same each weapon type depending on the weapon type would be the same. This would allow for the high competitive play some people are looking for so that just because someone is weak or has bad luck on drops can still beat anyone else on an even playing field.

    An example would be this: say you had a high level ego shotgun, that shotgun would be equalized for pvp, lowering its stats to be the same as an ego level 1 shotgun. The same would work for every weapon type minus the fact weapons could still retain their bonus effects like fire damage and the like.

    Now, with this in place no person would have an big advantage over any one else in pvp aside from the fact some weapon types and grenade types can not be found in beginning areas. Of course there could be pvp modes where the weapons are not equalized so people can show off their weapons and equips all they wish with no hindrance. This for the people who love to see their hard earned gear in action against other players.

    Regardless I enjoy most of the game as is and am merely throwing out an idea to be used should they feel they do want to increase weapon stats.
