Do you like Bane? He is a villain, but many people like to cosplay him. Could you tell me why?

you gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.
you gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street.
you gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight
you gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.
Because he's kind of a badass.
I prefer Lex Luthor myself though.
I never had much intrest in Bane, as his inseption was just a gimmicky plot device to up readership of the Batman comics... enter generic bad azz villan who breaks Batmans back... kinda like Doomsday, although they may have evolved him into something interesting over the years since I quit collecting comics.
Killer Crock was originally actually a truely interesting bad guy, he wasnt just some dumb strongman, he was someone with a genitic disease that made him look like a freak who was terribly scorned and mistreated by the people around him, forced to wrestle crockidiles as a circus freak since he was a child.
But he wasnt dumb and eventually learned that he could overcumb his opressers, and in fact he was so intelligent that he rose to become a criminal mastermind and head of the most viscious crime family in Gotham.
He was genious enough in fact to give ol Bats a run for his money...
But he still carried a terrible pain from all of the hate he endured, a pain that he felt was a vulnurability, a pain that he kept hidden...
There was a really good issue that showed how well his character was written, where Batman tracked down the apartment where Crock was living, broke in and waited for him to return.
When Crock finnaly entered Batman was sitting down in a chair waiting, expecting to enduce his typical responce of shock and fear... but it back fired on him. Crock filpped the F### out tearing the place up... screaming that he'd ruined it all. The one place where he could be alone. The one place he could let his guard down. The one place he wasnt a freak.
Interesting question.....
It's a mark of a sophisticated society where one can actually emphasize with an intellectual "villain". Not because he's "evil" per se, but because the intellectual villain plays within the grey areas of morality where the rules of right and wrong are not yet written.
a traditional villain carries out his nefarious deeds without remorse, commits violence out of pleasure, and acquires wealth as a means to carry out actions that bring him pleasure. The joker would be a prime example of a traditional villain.
comic book Bain was a one sided wrecking ball that existed to prove the humanity and frailties of the batman.
Movie Bain, one the other hand, was a multisided character that was as much victim, as well as antagonist, for the bat.....
When a villain is written well, the audience can crawl inside it's head for a brief moment in time, and see the world through different eyes. What is acceptable for one society may be viewed by another as sick, or twisted, or corrupt.....and must be challenged.
That, I feel, is why many people connected with the movie Bain....not because he was evil, but because he felt strongly enough in his convictions to act upon those convictions to eliminate what was, to him, the root of what he felt was evil. In his mind, even the innocent were guilty for not rising up against the corruption he perceived existed in Gotham.
In another reality, had he not been influenced by Raz alGhul's daughter...he might have become another vigilante hero fighting along side the likes of batman or the punisher....
as far as the cosplay.....I guess people enjoy the mortal kombat masks enough to want to dress up as them....
the original comic book Bain mask was far more creepier than the movie version mortal kombat mask, even after they went to great lengths to explain why bain had to wear it in the movie.
