No. We don't. Trion would lose tons of money. They would need to wait A MUCH longer time before even thinking that.
Do you, HONESTLY believe that an xbox 360 game, will EVER be F2P?
Are you saying, that we should just be able to go into a store, and pick up a free copy in the hopes we spend in game bits? Just to clarify?
If I misunderstood then my apologies.
Yes, we do.
I didn't say ALL of us. I said many of us.
Since we already paid our $60, we don't lose out since we get the whole game anyways. It only adds more people to the game if they come in free so that .. HEY, LOOK!.. there are actually people to play with now, instead of people who paid but are bored so they don't log in.
And btw: the first company that actually allows F2P on the consoles will be raking it in with their cash shops as a mmo.
That's coming, its just that no one has implemented it yet imo.
If you cannot tell that the writing is on the wall with this game based on E3, dunno what to tell you. This game has gotten ALL the new business it's really going to get for $30 a pop now that the genies are out of the bottle.
If you think a product should be free after a couple months of release, than that's just foolish.
I can see your idea not being COMPLETLY stupid, if it was suggested in 5 months from now or so.
F2p WILL NOT happen on consoles....not sure what you don't get about that. Send me a PM if it ever does.....10 years from now?
Just for the sake of argument.. how far does a NEW game have to slide before a couple months after release does F2P make sense to you? None?
Five months from now, this won't even be a game... or if it is, it will have already been F2P. We'll pull out our crystal balls them to see who's right.
Let me explain how B2P games work for you, ok?
See, some fool early adopters buy them at launch (call them.. 'us'). They pay the $60. And if enough of 'us' do that, the game starts to pay for development costs. If enough don't, which is what I think happened, you have to make up the rest in cash shop sales and new buyers.
The word is out on this game. This discussion we're having isn't in a vacuum or on private forums.. anyone can log in and read the dissatisfaction all over these forums. Reviews of this game are lackluster, show is dropping in ratings and there's no real tie-in anyways. Most of the box sales for this game have already been had.. there's scant little more coming Trion's way.
E3 dropped so many new games that it's all people can talk about. One game in particular is so close to Defiance but done so much better, it might make people think THIS is the beta. There is only so much money out there people will spend.. if given a choice they are going to go with what they see is the better product.
Where do you see new revenue coming in with DLC packs already sold and people who bought them.. waiting? The cash shop? Don't think people who already spent $60 and then $40 on the DLC are going to keep spending on skins while waiting. Maybe I'm wrong and we have more whales in this game like that one Browncoat guy who said he spent several thousand dollars on Defiance already. Could be /shrug
Fancypants, I can't take anything you say seriously because of your picture.
The English idiom "don't judge a book by its cover" is a metaphorical phrase which means "you shouldn't prejudge the worth or value of something, by its outward appearance alone".[1]
But I guess the Joker who I was chatting with looks more serious?
But your avatar certainly looks sober and lucid.![]()
Dust 514 and DCUO are both F2P on consoles, no? DCUO was not originally, if memory serves. Seems like there's precedent, anyway. Seem to recall there's some games on XBL (specifically thinking of a pinball game that's free for the base game but charges for other tables) that follow a similar model, but honestly I'm not that familiar with either PSN or XBL markets as my backlog of games is too long as it is.
