If you've never used a chatpad, be warned that it is really uncomfortable for some people. My hands aren't particularly large, but my fingers wrap most of the way around the bottom of the xbox controller. The chatpad prevents this and makes the controller uncomfortable to hold. Mine sits in a drawer 99% of the time.

This is exactly why I won't purchase one, I don't understand how anyone can comfortably hold a controller with a chatpad attached. I actually have large hands so I'll stick to VOIP and smartglass.

Will that even work? I'm either furious about smartglass or missing something about how it works. I keep my console connected to my wired LAN. The console automatically disables its wifi connection when it is wired. My tablet, on the other hand, obviously operates on my wifi network. Apparently, the keyboard feature of my smartglass app only works when the tablet and xbox are on the same network. Thus to use my smartglass keyboard I would have to do my online multiplayer (now MMO) gaming over wifi! There's no way I'm doing that when I have the option of a physical connection.

Huh, they are on the same network...unless you're connecting to the wrong WiFi network. Doesn't matter if you have a device hardwired or WiFi to your internet...it's all the same network. Smartglass worked just fine for me in the BETA and I have my Xbox hardwired just like you do. All you have to do is open the keyboard in-game and have "controller" selected on your Smartglass device. The keyboard should show on your device when it does on your TV...simply start to type on your device and it'll display on both (TV and Device) in real time.

When I launch the remote function on my smartglass I get a warning that says they are on separate networks and that the keyboard and browser control functions won't work. It works fine if I disconnect the wire and run my xbox on wifi. Im sure this, like all my other xbox issues, is probably caused by my sonicwall firewall. I think it must deliberately split the networks for security reasons.

wired network and wireless network are technically the same but because your running wired and wifi your not sync'ing the device inline with the needs of the xboxand this causes the system to become confused.

you ideally need to run the xbox on wireless..i had the same problem until i contacted support and this was the explanation given.
    mine works great now
