I assure you that the Earth Republic are doing their best to locate Beck Altarr. It has been confirmed that he was not the plague victim that i skillfully dispatched a few weeks ago.
The details regarding Beck's disappearance are sketchy at best, but i will say this, he went missing around that same time that Casti girl Miserere showed up at the station! I think that might be a clue!
