Has microsoft killed this game by releasing an old beta

im not saying the game is bad i love it im saying that, this so called (4 months old beta) has not done trion any favers in regards to trying to keep customers..

The developers aren't really looking to advertise the game with the beta. Chances are only a small portion of the hardcore crowd of their sales will try the beta out. What they are really intending is for players to find mistakes and give feedback so they can polish the game up before launch or slightly after.

Not at all, in a matter of fact they only way to try it out was basically making a pre-order !

1. This is the same beta everyone got. (PC, PS3, 360)
2. It is called a beta but I believe this is an alpha build of the game.
3. It is a beta, they are not meant to be perfect.
4. Microsoft had nothing to do with the beta except for maybe some of the initial sign in issues.

Now that the issues that I dealt on Friday with are gone, not being able to sign in and lag, I can confidently say I am not worried in the least and will happily pick up my collectors edition on the 2nd.

I have played the PC and the 360 beta. The PC is on a newer version and it shows in the quality. The game will be fine, this beta was nothing more than a stress test for the servers and general bug fixes. I have no doubt this game will not only succeed but the 360 will be the leading system.

360 and ps3 are the same (though the 360 seems to have a few more bugs still present so may be slightly older) and neither is being patched at present.I hope that is just because this really is just a stress test and they see no point of patching because the alternative is that there was no deal made and we will be waiting for patches to go through MS and Sony.The PC beta is being patched however and has a lot of differences from the little i have read.The fact that they are patching the PC is what has me a little worried about the consoles,though that wouldn't be Trions fault (they did say however that there was a deal to bypass certification).

People need to understand that this was never to test the game, just to stress test the server. It is an old version, especially when you compare it to the alpha they show on the livestream. They have not since the beta started tried fixing the beta, except issues surrounding server problems, or possible problems which may ruin experiences such as people unable to get past the tutorial area etc.

I would love them to post a thread that said, 'Your biggest issues, answered, so... SHUT THE HELL UP'. And just give their best answers there. There is an FAQ, but that was posted by a regular forum user, not a moderator (sorry for calling you a regular forum user, you did a great thing there, not offending you).

I would love to hear a developer read over the FAQs and answer them if possible too, but would be more to likely get a flying unicorn-pig spouting never neverland dust out of its squid legs for my birthday.

Most of us have worked in retail at some point, and know that if you confuse the customer, they don't buy anything that time. If they buy something and it is does not do something you said it would, they don't buy again from that manufacturer or store.

Also would like to go on point that microsoft is ruining its image as of recent, and as a person who is now 9 years online active solely on xbox/xbox 360, I may abandon the next platform completely. They took a risk on an MMO hoping to show they can do this and will do more on the next gen, and shot themselves in the foot when the developer had the ability to do the job properly and ms told trion to ruin it.

I would say its not completly unthinkable that at the very least microsoft has caused them so dire losses, if there is infact a much better build availible.

While I absolutely love the concept of the game, however What I've seen in the xbox 360 beta is just embarresing... mobs hitting you from the other side of the world (not exagerating), etcetcetc.

I'll prob end up buying the game anyways out of curiosity, and the fact that I've been looking for something similar for years.. However I can totally see alot of people opting out of buying it after a exceptionally bad beta experience.

The concept of the game is great - the lack of social aspects and social hubs. However the build I am seeing is not something I like to see 10 days before release.. infact the build we are currently on is atleast 6 months from a state where it should even be considered to be released.

I am not to worried about the Lag related issues, however the amount of issues that has absolutely nothing to do with stress testing is absolutely overwhelming.

As for the 360 being the leading system for defiance, sorry that will never happen, both xbox and ps3 lack the social aspects to draw a bigger mmo crowd then the pc. Personally I would like to buy it for xbox 360, but I am very hesitant since I know from experience with games such a final fantasy and dcuo that it will lack the social aspect which is a really important part of any mmo, even a shooter.

If people are canceling their pre order because of a Beta they are too stupid to play the game and the game will be better off with out them.
