If someone wants to PVP they can join shadow wars and kill all they want. Least that way you are 100% sure you are fighting other players that wants to fight.

I'm not all to certain how the shadow war works, I did it once but i thought they said it was open world ? It didnt really feel like it. What I imagend was flagging yourself by typing something like /pvp and having new icons pop on the map to take over and being able to kill anyone that was pvp flagged but i guess it will have to do
I'm not a hardcore PvPer, thus I would prefer PvP be an optional aspect of the game. I don't wanna join an arkfall battle and have to constantly watch my back in order to keep myself from getting killed for no reason beyond griefing.
I'd much rather have global PvP being an opt-in option such as the Shadow Wars.
I don't want to ever play PVP. I have no interst in it. I am here to Stricly PVE. Weather out there playing my Lone Wolf or in a small group.
Just create a server with an alternate rule set. Problem solved. That would be the one main thing that keeps me from staying in this game a long time: lack of pvp making constant pve grinding too old.
Guild Wars 2 is stale? Tell that to their accountants.
They have a whole portion of their game dedicated to a massive, persistent PvP world that far outclasses the other games you mention, but sadly for some there are no PvE players there minding their own business who can be targets for cheap kills.
Blending PvP into PvE content requires designing the PvE portion to account for player antagonism. It doesn't take a genius to realize that adding PvP would require completely redesigning most of the content and imposing limits upon what can be done with PvE content.
Honestly, I think I loved more than anything else in pvp TURNING a fight around and killing the would be ganQQer... While it is true that a lot of world pvp IS ganking the unsuspecting, it is also about playing while being paranoid and keeping an eye out around you. Killing players that expected me to be a TOTALLY easy mark or even escaping a random high level bent on making me their next one-shot opponent were victories to be remembered and, of course, to be trash talked aboutesp in Rift and other games one could talk to the enemy in. I created some lifelong frie...... errrrrr REALLY HAPPY PEOPLE TO HAVE MET ME
through that lol
That said, I think that adding some sort of pvp system would be a good thing if not just an alternate rules server. shrug
There's a time and place for being paranoid, and there's a time and place for a more sedentary pace. If I want an occasional bout of elevated stress levels, I'll subscribe to a game that practically offers me a menu of activities when I sign in. If I want to sign into a situation that gives me elevated stress levels every evening after work, I'll get a second job.
I queued for pvp a few times, never got a match on PC. I was enjoying the beta so much I decided I didn't feel like waiting more than one minutes ... lol.
