Lol, theres no definite time limit. This game fails when the population of it no longer validates the necessity to keep it moving forward.
Defiance is moving alright, be it forward, left, back, diagonal back, black out like a drunk on New Years back, half step forward on St. Patty's day... Fact is its still moving and its a decent enough game...
Not every game needs to be ground breaking, with awe-inspiring textures and a dynamic PvP/PvE elements that are unlike anything out there... It just wont get you top billing.
the game is a Failure to You when You decide You cant put up with any bugs, glitches, time-outs, crashes, or general shenanigans that happen to game.

Theres been one out since about 13.76 billion years ago called Real Life™ .. the graphics are amazing but the game play is terrible at times and the death penalty is harsh.

The answer is a simple one: When the game becomes non-viable financially and it costs more to maintain the servers and support than it can take in.
So support your favorite game today by getting friends to buy it or buy bits from the bits store.

It's nice that you have hope and you support the game 100%. But are you blind the game has took one big nose dive and trion will not keep the servers running for a few players. Don't get upset by my post all I'm bringing you is the truth.
Players numbers don't lie
The players are the ones who hold the true energy to propel any game forwards whether it be MMO or not. If there aren't enough playing it, buying it and/or purchasing in game items then the money flow is, clearly, going to be thin as opposed to flowing strongly.
Oh well, I doubt anything that anyone says to you in regards to this game; whether it be neutral or positive will get through to you so I suspect I'm wasting my time attempting this. But I would like to point out to those who are similar to yourself that the developers & co are human and morale can be lost due to OTT negativity. Instead of being negative why not attempt to at least help them out with constructive criticism instead of parroting the same thing in almost every post you make.
You've been here more or less since the beginning, posting things such as this. The only way you could keep on top of all the issues that you mentioned in your posts is by either playing the game or constantly checking up on it religiously. Either way I sense there's something battling inside you hence why you're in this situation - at the end of the day you're wasting your own time either way, whether you realise that or not.
