    Flawed storytelling

Hi all. Hoping one of the Trion people involved with the storytelling aspect of the Defiance game sees this post, because you currently have a serious flaw in how you approached Plague.

I didn't see the trailer for Plague until today, having completed the episode mission days ago.

Why weren't the scenes shown in the trailer shown in-game?? This was a bad story decision -- players who missed the trailer missed the set up. And because there was no set up for what was going on in-game, I had no real context to what was going on, I wasn't invested.

A significant missed opportunity, Trion. With all the focus on technology and gameplay (which are undoubtedly important), I very much hope you will pay the same attention to detail in how you approach the story for those of us who are following it (or trying to).

Not quite sure what you mean with the trailer?

But I'll add my two cents on the story arc .. my big problem with it was how it ended. It just kind of.. fizzled. They ended seemed rushed and kinda muddied to the point that it felt like a serious let down to an otherwise interesting plotline.

Not to mention the data recorders just appearing out of no where with no prompt, informing us the ark hunter was sent out to obtain the materials for the cure (which we never did despite launching a missile with the cure at defiance? brilliant I say) before anyone mentions the sieges, you cannot synthesize a cure out of nowhere, they may be synthesizers at the sieges but we still most certainly did not actually go out and get the materials to synthesize said cure, it's like they forgot to activate a step.

And yeah it's pretty disappointing that the trailer wasn't at all represented in game. They really screwed up with the data recorders and gathering the cure, I mean the advertisement on the launcher even says "find the cure" find what? we already launched a missile with the cure that we didn't find? /shrug

I'm hoping that there will actually be a finale to the content with Monday's episode, but I'm not going to hold my breath any.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

Who's to say that such an event does not come about tomorrow? The afflicted past stage 4 have to be killed, maybe a bunker where people took refuge is overrun.

Firstly, the content with the data recorders was done 2 weeks ago monday or so. The ATB that night eluded to the zombie deal. Later the trailer was done(using one of the voice stuff from one of the data recorders I might add). Then this past week we had the Sieges start and the mission on monday with the tv show episode leading into the story as well(ie we sorta got it first before the tv show stuff which makes sense since the reporter was from the bay area). Tomorrow night's episode on tv should tie in the cure I would assume(that we've worked on).

So Im not sure why there is this feeling that it was all abruptly done in the last few days or something.

I agree about missed opportunity. It's a great video and would have done well as a cutscene or intel video.

all their storytelling is flawed.... how are you gonna go on a livestream and say that the last episode explains why no one fly airplanes when the beginning of the game has you in a StratoCarrier?

I assumed they meant everything besides Stratocarriers, to justify why ark hunters don't use flying vehicles. Stratocarriers might be armored and protected enough to survive falling ark debris and somehow protected from the higher radiation levels in the sky, unlike the Mutant copters and Dark Matter carriers. They should've mentioned that though.
