Doesn't matter so much whether or not PS3 has better hardware than PC rig or not. Problem is, when my roommate moved out they stole my PS3 and a lot of my games. So it'll be a few months before I can afford to toss out the money for a new PS3. (Already looked into what a nightmare it'd be to seek legalities against an old roommate... not really worth the hassle as it'd cost even more.) So for now, only system I have to game on is PC. So either way, it's either play Defiance on PC for now... or maybe in a few months... but from what I've read, there's quite a few other games of higher priority on my list for PS3 than Defiance.

The biggest problem I found on a personal level was one of accessibility and it is the MAJOR thing that will stop me playing and enjoying the game
Basically I did not find anywhere near enough control over mouse sensitivity and this could prove to be a major problem for anyone with motor function problems and co-ordination issues. All I was able to achieve was a choice between hyper sensitive mouse and very sensitive mouse that had me experiencing difficulties getting my targeting reticule onto the killpoint and keeping it there without doing mad spinning on the spot actions.
Now I know that most of you will not have issues of motor control but a modern game should be designed to accommodate as much accessibility parameters as is possible and sorting out the mouse sensitivity so that it has a broader range of variables should be fairly simple in the grand run of things

I had a great time playing the beta. I tried a bit of everything. One thing that really got to me, though, was not being able to turn off the voice chat in pvp matches. I'm usually already in a teamspeak channel and I would like to know that people in the pvp match aren't hearing what I say in ts. I couldn't hear anything but loud static and inaudible voices in the voice chat anyway.

That was the only major issue I had while playing other than the chat window being very un-user friendly.
Other than that, I thought it was a great game. Looking forward to playing at launch

I sent in a suggestion about this during the beta, but I'll post here as well:
Would it be possible to get the tattoos removed from the starter outlaw outfit, and added in as a choice in the tattoo section of character creation? Also more hair color options would be nice, especially an actual red (blood red, or a shade similar to the red on Von Bach's vest): Strawberry blonde and auburn are ok (and sadly both are only available on the alien species; the human has something I think is supposed to be auburn, but doesn't resemble it in game), but I prefer actual red.

I did run into some bugs, including one which prevented me from completing a quest, all of which I reported. Since it seems this was an older build, I'm guessing they were already well known and/or fixed. The UI has a bit of a steep learning curve to it (it took me a bit to figure out that hitting escape or opening a window (such as L for inventory) and holding down the space bar showed the option to log out or exit. Hopefully this will be explained in the user's manual/pdf.

I loved the game's atmosphere and characters, and I found the enemies refreshingly challenging; it is a VERY nice change of pace to see a NPC opponent roll out of the way or run for cover when they start getting shot, instead of just standing there trading shots. I lost track of the number of times I threw a grenade, or aimed through a scope to line up a headshot, only to see the enemy run or roll away. Much cursing at them was done; good cursing, the kind where I am being challenged (and slightly miffed at them for not dying like I planned).

Vehicle use was a bit tricky, but I think it will be just a matter of getting used to it; the quad seemed very responsive to my input, a change from what I am used to. It probably takes a bit more finesse to use them correctly, rather than what I was attempting. Finally, a very big THANK YOU for not only allowing us to have first and last names (thus allowing two people to use the same first name), but in also allowing the use of reasonable punctuation in names (such as an apostrophe). Overall, I am looking forward to becoming part of the Defiance universe.

    Wished I Had More Time

The title means I truly enjoyed the time I spent during the Beta.

I made two characters, the first only got to about 120 and I let my son make a character for the second. He didn't get high point wise but he's more into roaming and exploring.

    What can I say?

First, I will say that not once did I experience any lag or connection issues and except for updates starting was always quick and smooth.

The look of Defiance is gorgeous and very detailed. The weather changes for Arkfalls is pretty intense and makes you drawn into the gravity of what's happening.\

A LOT LOT LOT to do. I found myself always tempted to veer off my quests to jump into a firefight or get sidetracked into all the various challenges, and random events.

I spent way too much time shopping and modding weapons. That's probably why I didn't rank up higher.

As for downsides, the in-game tutorial almost got me killed right off the bat. I was stuck listening to EGO talk about something while mutants shot me the back. Also, I had two incidents where I finished a quest and even watched the next cinematic only to have to do it again.

I am also curious about Cass. She's quite flirty with her dialog. So, what happens when you're playing female? Does she have a whole new set of things to say?

Also, am I the only one who encountered a parking lot of cars on the end of Madiera?

With beta completed and April 2nd release a week away today.
It would be wise to uninstall Beta and defragg the HD for next weeks release.

I found the Beta to be quite entertaining, and the storyline is unique. I also spent the bulk of my time navigating the UI and modding, and as such didn't get my character to quite the heights as some others. I did not have time to explore the PvP, and mostly played through the main missions and the side missions. while id did experience some buggy issues, none of them made such an impact that would lessen my enjoyment of the game, and I'm hoping they are all minor issues that will be fixed for the release. here is the only suggestionI have based on my experience with the game:

    1A - modding costs:
I found the modding system to be very ingenious, however I also found it to be awfully expensive. While I have no issue at all with the mods themselves being costly, I feel that the cost should reflect the level or rating of the mod, and that it should not cost anything to add a mod slot ( or at least be exponentially less expensive to do so )..I also feel that ALL weapons and items, regardless of type or level, should be able to be modded. The best weapon I had was a standard in-game quest reward item, but I was unable to mod it or add slots ( carbine of some sort ), and even when compared to extremely rare and modded weapons, it still proved far more effective on all fronts. I feel that the mods should actually DO something...and I kind of feel bad for not taking screen shots and notes to back that up. There seemed to be no real difference in the post-modded weapons. while there were clear differences on PAPER, in actual combat the non-modded, non blue or even purple weapons made any kind of difference and more often than not performed WORSE.

1B - MAKE CRAFTING SOMETHING PLAYERS CAN DO

Thanks for making what appears to be a great base for a game, and I hope you continue the upward trend

1C - MAKE ALL THE CURRENCY INTERCHANGEABLE - for those of us who choose not to use credit cards, there should be an interface to exchange arktech for bits, scrip, keys, and vice versa. It is EXCRUCIATING to go into the store and only be able to purchase items with bits, and have to use a credit card to buy them. I agree that its a good option, for in order to make the game enjoyable to to the highest possible base, and the broadest demographic, then everything in the game should be accessible to everyone in every possible way.

She was friendly to my characters, but not flirty that I saw.

I am missing the Beta already,
