This thread makes me want to watch the episode again, I am sure the E-Rep said it crossed over very quickly hence the quarentine.....
But really, some people will search for anything they can just so they have an excuse to complain.
I know when I watched the episode and saw them talking about the bay and the plauge I thought it was rather cool I also thought that they should have built up the cure mission more in the game to better match this.

I agree with the first half of your post, there definitely is a mission or two missing between the massive sickness in the bay and sending a large amount of a cure to defiance.
I don't think it has anything to do with a crossover from Defiance though, it is purely a Bay Area issue of missing content.
The transportation method also does not really fit the retrieved vaccine package but that part of the episode was pretty weak any way.
I think players and viewers are making a big deal out of continuity between the game and the show because Trion and SyFy both made a big deal about it first. When they say it's a big deal and an important feature, it is somewhat disingenuous for them to then turn around and criticize people for taking them at their word.
That said, I think it should be clear that the time from the events at the end of one show to the events at start of the next is not always 1 week. For example, that ship went down at the end of the episode in which Sukar was shot. They were checking it out at the start of the next one. Given that they raced to intercept an arkfall in the pilot while it was still coming down in order to try to salvage anything useful before others showed up to loot it, they aren't going to sit on their hands for a week when a whole ship comes down in their laps. It only makes sense for that to be the same day.
Not only that, it should be abundantly clear that events in the TV episode don't take an hour. We've often seen events take place over the course of at least 2 days because there are day scenes, then night scenes, then more day scenes. Rynn's first episode took place over even more.
At best, you can make the argument that the events at the end of the episode take place when the episode ends, and everything earlier than that happened at some time in the past before we started watching the episode. As long as no episode shows events that take longer than a week to play out or events occur that have to happen more than a week after the last episode ends, a little flexibility on when the episode's first events take place would allow you to keep a real time link. If Trion and SyFy don't want a real-time link, then they should probably stop saying there is one.
My thought on releasing the content a few hours before the show is that they have to release it when they have staff available and time to deal with problems that may arise when the content goes live. Again, both Trion and SyFy have heavily marketed the ability to go seamlessly from show to game. You don't want to have people jumping from the show to the game to see the new content only to find that the game is down for maintenance every week. Given their track record with patches, releasing the content early is a sensible precaution. People who don't watch the show aren't hurt by a release that's a few hours early. People that do care about spoilers and access the new content anyway don't have much of an excuse for complaining. Even if they correctly allow travel time, they do still have telecommunications, so information from Defiance could reach the game immediately. All new content should be presumed to contain spoilers. As long as they avoid revealing the spoilers until after you choose to access the content, that seems to be a reasonable compromise that still lets people play as soon as the episode is over.
The timing for Charlie to show up in Defiance was fine, as long as you don't try to assume she was headed there to meet the astronaut (which doesn't make sense at all, no matter you look at it). If she was traveling with the caravan and it just happened to be passing through Defiance at the same time that the astronaut showed up, they're OK. She had plenty of time to travel from the Bay Area to Defiance, because she was mentioned weeks ago in the very first set of data recorders.
That still leaves a handful of continuity problems to deal with.
1) Given the big deal they have repeatedly made about taking Nolan and Irisa out of the game to give them time to travel to St. Louis in real time, Rynn should not have appeared in the game on the same week that her escape episode aired. That was just very poor scheduling.
2) They should never have called the delivery system an ICBM. There's no reason for it to be an ICBM. There are vertically launched cruise missiles and a modern cruise missile (not to mention one 30 years in the future) has the range to make the trip and it can stay low enough to avoid climbing into the debris/radiation zone, whereas an ICBM travels in a ballistic path that takes it higher into the atmosphere the farther it goes. That's just bad writing. A good continuity editor should have caught that.
3) They should never have said that Eren had been working on the cure for months. That's just dumb. The line could just as easily have been weeks, rather than months, which would have placed it at about the time when the plague showed up in the Bay Area. Both of them knew immediately knew what the disease was when they saw it, they knew how it was carried, and they knew it affected humans. All of that indicates that there have been outbreaks before. They didn't have to discover a cure, they just had to make it and distribute it. Again, call the continuity editor on the carpet for that. Even if the writers made the mistake originally, the continuity editor should have made them fix it. However, because the call for the cure and the missile's arrival occur during the same episode, you'll just have to allow a little wiggle room unless you expect them to stop the show and wait while you go play the episode.
Of course, one possible explanation is that the plague content was actually supposed to be released in the game much earlier and it was too late to re-record the line.
4) The cutscene at the end of this week's crossover poses a problem, Rynn said the letter had arrived days earlier. It would have been better for Coop to hand her an electronic device to let her read the message than a letter. An electronic message sent soon after the end of the episode two weeks could easily have reached the Bay Area in time to sit around for a few days, for a letter, it's much less likely.
is that all? that is what it was about? ... jeeze people are ridiculously picky about simple things. The only thing that did was simply spoil a bit of the episode for me. and even then, i did not mind that was a fun episode mission and a fun episode. so i don't see a problem, more like people being overly expectant of simple things....which now, when they begin more flash back rewind weekends will still be "non-cannon" but really they are. it's a matter of realizing that, it really is a new world for gaming all together...imagine the possibilities...reality tv meets video gaming. yup. i did just say that. and if i had the money, i'd make it real.
I could not have put it better myself. I mean if you really want to look into it there could be weeks between cuts that are shown as the same day and no one mentioned it, because it didn't matter.
Look at it this way we had two weeks of game time with the plague before the show mentioned it. How much time is two weeks of game play? who really cares?
As far as continuity is concerned, we sent the ICBM to Defiance and they received it, good. Now Rynn is leaving the Bay area and should be showing up in Defiance at some unnamed point in the future, good. Continuity is persevered. Now if we see Datak show up in the Bay area next week and the show has him locked up in Nolan's cell for six weeks we have a problem. But really only because of the spoiler that Datak gives us when he says he escaped....
(edit) But I do agree that a timeline feature would be nice to have as a reference. I would like to be able to go back to a timeline six months from now to remind myself of all that's happened in the game or the show, and it would help new players who want to understand all that's going on.
Is that all? are you trying to be funny? you failed. The continuity argument is what they used to argue pulling the prelude content that they brought back for a short rewind, content that they should just leave in game so you have something else to do when you create a new character or do a reset on the main storyline. In a game that is devoid of the typical storyline present in the majority of mmos these days, to remove content or make story content temporary is pretty daft. If they were actually providing a substantial transmedia experience, that would be one thing but since they aren't, they cannot afford to keep doing this. The whole spoiler part while annoyed a lot of people was not even on my radar.
They keep throwing that continuity argument out the window and you expect people to just take it without voicing concerns? this was hyped up by trion and pushed as one of the largest components of their transmedia experience and they dropped the ball, hence the complaints. You can accept mediocrity in your life all you want but do not criticize others when they won't have any of it. I will continue to point out when the back peddle or go back on their arguments until they get it right or they fail, which ever comes first.
Because despite the glaring flaws with this game, I enjoy playing it with my clanmates and want to see it succeed so I will continue to voice any concerns I have in regards to the things they do and the things they say.
