Isn't there a pvp population issue? I wonder whether it's truly being used any longer due to convenience issues of getting into a match quickly

I don't think it works like ELO, since there are no duels. I don't know how it's calculated, but I'd bet it's simpler than that, something like a points per game ratio. And it is only used to balance teams, so that top ranked players do not play in the same team, except when they are in the same group.

And for the source, IIRC, it was mentionned by French Community Manager (Taome) during a livestream he made with the French Community. I may be able to dig a little bit to find that, but not right now : I'm at work and can't access Twitch.

The match making system is stupid, and the reason why PVP takes so long to queue I'm suspecting. It should just be 100% random team generations. I seam to always find myself against lately against Ark & Quickstrike, or Omni. Which baffles me considering I normally triple in kills the person under me.

But I would REALLY like to see what the ranks are though, and I think weekly script/salvage/loot rewards should randomly go to the top 10. All the data they need to do this is there, so is the programming, so is the infrastructure, they just need to add the UI for it, but alas, Trion is too busy fixing major bugs like removing random wandering NPC's.

there are quite a few quality players that I would consider to be in the top tier. I would wager to say its larger then a top 10 of any given day bad match/good match of high quality playing from players. seems to me that players are getting higher and ego and using stronger builds as well and pvp as a whole is becoming more competitive. at the end of the day though in pvp's current state it is highly dependent on the quality of your team and the cohesiveness of teamwork within. I have a higher level of respect for a group of individuals with even kills working strongly together then a long wolf dominating certain players. soon we will have the battle arenas though and we will get duels to get a real grasp of the best "solo player" instead of best team player

all and all I like our crowd and even with this games flaws I greatly enjoy competing against you guys

I'm not good enough to go by that logic. Then everyone would be cheating.

My point is that because of certain flaws in where information is stored, a cheater can beat the top skilled player. However, the obvious cheaters are probably caught quickly because they are reported. So it's not 'anybody better' that's cheating, but rather the 'good cheaters'.

They're probably just "tweaking" a little here and there. Instead of say... "1 AR shot that does 20K dmg" (exaggerating to make a point). This is a good thing though. It gives the non-cheater a fighting chance since you still need skill in this case.
